We carry out 2 types of thermal testing:
On the fleece materials and with a thermal mannequin in a climate chamber. The comfort of this sweater is between 7 and 10°C.

Pants with 2 different components:

- a durable fabric (207 g/m²) on the areas that need protection from abrasion (seat, bottom of the leg at the front). This fabric is also stretchy for freedom of movement. It has been treated for water repellency.

- a lightweight, breathable fabric (150 g/m²) on the rest of the pants.

Dual-component structure

These pants have water-repellent zones (lower front of the leg and the seat) that prevent water from seeping through. This product is water-repellent, not waterproof.
The water-repellent areas slow down the rate at which water and moisture is absorbed, but they will not keep you dry in steady rain. To restore the water-repellent property, tumble dry on low heat for 10 minutes. Alternatively, we recommend you wear waterproof rain pants (product number 8504646).

For warmth, we used insulating fill (60 m²g/m²). This synthetic, polyester-based lining traps air according to the size of the fibres to keep you warm.

Which fabrics are used to make my pants warm?

We lab test our products to provide you with a comfort indicator. The comfort indicator is measured without tights for pants, and with a thermal T-shirt and a fleece for jackets. The temperature indicated is the external temperature at which the testers were neither warm nor cold. Of course, the perceived temperature varies depending on the intensity of the activity and each individual’s metabolism.

How is comfort temperature measured?

The regular fit allows the pants to be combined with a technical base layer.

What is the fit of the 100 Ski Pants?

The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm. The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. Fabric with a waterproof rating of 5,000 mm is resistant to the pressure exerted by a 5,000 mm column of water.
For skiing, we recommend fabrics rated 5,000 to 20,000 mm. At Decathlon, we lab test all of our waterproof products. This product's rating is?/ 5 In a shower test.

How is your pants’ water resistance measured?

These pants have elastic gaiters at the ankles to cover your boots. The seal created by the gaiters keeps the snow out.

How can I prevent snow from getting in my pants?

To optimize your product’s performance and durability: 
*Machine wash at 30°C on a synthetics cycle. 
*Turn the product inside out.
*Use a small amount of detergent. Do not use fabric softener.
*Wring by hand. 
*Dry on a hanger in a warm, well-ventilated place.
Do not dry clean. Do not place on a radiator.

How should I wash my pants?

We commit to repairing your product free of charge for the duration of the warranty. If you need the seams, zippers, or another element repaired, contact your store. However, if we can’t repair your product (production defect), we will exchange it or reimburse you.

Features

We use 100% polyester filling weighing 125 g/m² in the body and 100 g/m² in the sleeves and hood. The filling is made from silicone-coated spiral fibres that are highly compressible and durable. The trapped air makes the filling highly insulating and lightweight. It stays warm even when wet.

Technical information on the filling

This polyamide canvas uses 20 denier threads (thread unit of measurement) and resists up to 20,000 abrasion cycles. Durability is calculated using the Martindale test, Standard 12 947-2. This test involves rubbing the jacket material against another material to observe how the product resists wear. 
Outer: 100% polyamide fabric, 39 g/m² weight, 20 denier.
Lining: 100% polyester fabric, 35 g/m² weight, mix of 15 to 20 denier.

Durable materials

The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water run off its surface without being absorbed. This prevents the fabric from absorbing water and keeps it lightweight and warm.Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. The garment should be retreated over its lifespan (recommended after each wash). Water-repellent treatment products are available in our stores.

Water repellency (not to be confused with waterproofing)

Once you have cleaned your padded jacket, we recommend using a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabric. This renews the fabric’s water-repellent properties and optimizes its performance throughout its life cycle. Look for this product in store and on our website using code 8554908.

Restoring water repellency

In general, it’s best not to wash a down jacket too often. Each wash affects its thermal properties.

A precious tip for maintaining your down jacket!

Sometimes a padded jacket gets torn on the trails. Good news! It can be repaired! Simply mend it or apply an iron-on patch to prevent the tear from getting bigger and letting the synthetic fibres to escape. Not sure about repairing it yourself? Don’t worry!
