How do these pants keep my child warm?
The brushed fabric traps air for added insulation. We carried out a comparative study in a thermal laboratory in walking conditions in light winds (5 km/h or 3 mph). The comfort temperature is the calculated air temperature where 70% of users have a slightly warm thermal sensation. For these pants, it’s -2.5°C. However, everyone feels the cold differently.
How do these pants protect from outdoor conditions?
In winter, it is important to protect from moisture (snow, rain) and wind, because they can significantly cool the body whether moving or at rest. The windproof, water-repellent outer fabric keeps kids in all winter conditions. Plus, the ankle tabs keep snow out.
What is water repellency and how can you maintain it?
Water repellency is a fabric’s capacity to make water run off its surface without being absorbed. It prevents the fabric from soaking up water, keeping it lightweight, warm, and breathable. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. The garment should be retreated over its lifespan (recommended after each wash). Products for this purpose (spray or liquid) are available in our stores.
How to dress properly for hiking in the snow
Whatever your cold-weather activity, use the three-layer technique: Layer 1: A high-tech base layer to wick moisture away from the body and keep your skin dry. Layer 2: A fleece jacket or sweater to provide warmth and transfer moisture outward. Layer 3: A jacket to protect against the elements (rain, snow, and wind). To eliminate moisture, the whole outfit must be breathable.
Will your pants withstand regular use long-term?
We conduct tests on the selected components: resistance to rubbing and abrasion, colourfastness, and resistance to repeated washing. All these tests were conducted on the pant material.
