RET refers to a fabric’s capacity to let perspiration evaporate. 
The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric.

How can I prevent snow from getting into my ski suit?

To make sure you stay warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-layer rule:
- Layer 1, a base layer to keep you dry. 
- Layer 2, an insulating layer to keep you warm. 
- Layer 3, a protective layer against the elements.

How to dress your children so they stay warm on the slopes

The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of the water column (measured in mm) that the fabric can withstand (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. The fabric of the 900 ski suit has a waterproof rating of 10,000 mm, and so resists the pressure of 10,000 mm of water.
For skiing, we recommend components between 3,000 mm and 10,000 mm.

How is fabric waterproofing measured?

We lab-test each of our products to validate its waterproofing value. How do we carry out this test? We fit the jacket on a mannequin that spends a few hours under a shower.
Using this test, we can confirm that the jacket protects you from snowfall or a light rain shower of 6 cm in one hour.

How is the water resistance of a ski suit measured?

We lab-test our products to provide you with a comfort indicator. The comfort indicator is measured without tights for pants, and with a thermal T-shirt and a fleece for jackets. The temperature indicated is the external temperature at which the testers were neither warm nor cold. Of course, the perceived temperature varies depending on the intensity of the activity and each individual’s metabolism.

How is comfort temperature measured?

To optimize your product’s performance and durability, we recommend:

*Machine wash at 30°C on a synthetics cycle. Turn the product inside out. Use a small amount of detergent. Do not use fabric softener.
*Spin between 800 and 1,200 rpm.
*Dry flat or tumble dry.
Do not dry clean. Do not place on a radiator or heat source.

How do I wash my child's ski suit?

The wool and acrylic blend combine insulating power and durability. We have refined this sock to provide support in more sensitive areas. The tibia reinforcement is positioned to provide comfort. 

Composition

All our sock sizes cover 3 or 4 shoe sizes. The elastane helps the socks stay in place. Foot length, size, and volume vary from person to person: that’s why it’s important to try your socks on before going skiing.
We always recommend choosing slightly small over slightly large socks.

Water rolls off without being absorbed so the garment remains light, breathable, and warm. This product is water-repellent, not waterproof.
The treatment should be reapplied to remain effective. Use sprays that are applied to the outside, rather than additives used when washing the garment, which can damage the product’s breathability.

There are several factors to take into account that explain this difference, such as:
> activity intensity (related to cross-country skiing)
> each individual’s metabolism
> blood circulation


The above factors should be considered when choosing a pair of gloves.

The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm that can be supported by the fabric (test based on the ISO 1092 standard).The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with an impermeability of 5,000 mm will therefore withstand the pressure exerted by 5,000 mm of water (which corresponds roughly to a 1-hour downpour). Waterproofing is expressed in Schmerber units (for example: 5,000 Schmerbers). This number applies before washing.

A coating applied to the fabric makes it waterproof and windproof. Technically, a waterproof fabric is also windproof. Protection from the wind is critical, as wind can chill the body during physical activity.

This allows perspiration to escape during physical activity, preventing it from accumulating on the skin. 
The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric.

These ski mittens were designed for regular use by young skiers. Longer cuffs make them easy to get on while providing an excellent seal.

Options

All Wedze gloves and mittens have a water-repellent treatment that makes water slide across the fabric’s surface instead of being absorbed. This means the fabric does not become saturated. It remains light and warm. A treatment applied to the outer surface makes the fabric water repellent. 

Water repellency

The mitten’s waterproof membrane consists of a very thin polymer film placed between the lining and the part of the glove in contact with the environment. This membrane acts as a barrier to make the product waterproof. The product’s exterior materials are also treated for water repellency. Only a rubber-type glove is watertight. Under extremely wet conditions, a glove with a membrane will have limited waterproofness.

All Wedze gloves and mittens are windproof. Did you know that the wind makes you feel colder? At an outside temperature of 0°C and a wind speed of 20 km/h, the temperature will feel like -10°C.  Windproof fabrics limit wind chill and cold.
