The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of a water column in mm that can be supported by the fabric (test based on the JIS 1092 standard).The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric.This jacket can withstand 5,000 mm of water (equivalent to a rain shower lasting 1 hour).
To approve this, the MH 500 Waterproof Hiking Jacket was placed in a shower for one hour with a volume of 60 L of water/m²/h. This test reproduces average rain shower conditions in the mountains.


How is the water resistance of the MH 500 Waterproof Hiking Jacket measured?

Fabric breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET). 
This allows sweat to escape during physical activity, preventing it from accumulating on the skin. 
The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric.

RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabric
RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric
RET ≤ 20: little or no breathability

How breathable is the MH 500 Waterproof Hiking Jacket?

Resistance to wear and abrasion test: for example, we test our fleeces in the lab to ensure they do not pill. Colourfastness test: we check colourfastness to ensure colours don’t bleed if they come into contact with saliva. Aging test: Verifies that repeated washing does not alter the fabric’s properties, performance, thickness, or appearance.

How is the resistance of the MH 500 Waterproof Hiking Jacket tested?

1/ Machine wash (30°C to 40°C): fasten hook-and-loop tabs and zippers. Use gentle detergent. Wash jackets and pants inside out. Loosen straps and elastics. 
2/ Avoid bunching the garment in the washing machine as this can damage it. 
3/ Do not mix garment types and colours. 
4/ Do not use bleach or fabric softener.
5/ Choose a long rinse and gentle spin cycle.
6/ Hang to dry or run it through the dryer (minimum temperature, minimum duration).
