How to choose the size of your MT 500 mattress

This mattress is available in an L and XL version. The difference between the 2 sizes is the length (180 cm/70.9 in for size L; 195 cm/76.8 in for size XL) and width (52 cm/20.5 in for size L; 60 cm/23.6 in for size XL). Consider your height to choose the mattress that best suits you. However, also consider how much space you like to have around your shoulders. So, even if you are 1.75 m (5’9”) tall, you may prefer the XL size!

How to inflate your MT 500 mattress

To prevent moisture from being blown into the mattress, we recommend that you use the pump bag in the pouch. To do this, unroll the entire pump bag/pouch. Connect the valve of the pump bag to the “IN” valve of your mattress. Blow to about 10–20 cm from the pump bag inlet to inflate the main bag as much as possible. Roll the bag up until you get to the valve to push the air out of the main bag and into your mattress.

A tip for sleeping well on the MT 500 inflatable mattress

Once you are lying down, remember to adjust the inflation pressure of the mattress by lightly pressing the “in” valve (open cap). A mattress that is too hard is often uncomfortable. Silicone patches on the top of the mattress are designed to reduce the sliding of your sleeping bag on the mattress.

How to repair a leak on your MT 500 inflatable mattress

Inflatable mattresses are not puncture-proof, but they can be repaired. Take care when inflating and moving the mattress. In the event of a problem, we recommend self-adhesive repair patches (ref. number: 8557113).

What is R-value?

The R-Value is a measure of the thermal insulation. It measures the ability of a mattress to retain or prevent heat from escaping from a warm body (human body) to a cold floor. The higher the R-value, the better the insulation of the mattress. R-values can be added: this means that you can use two mattresses and add their R-values. All our mattresses are tested to ASTM F3340-18 standards.

What R-value do you need?

R-value from 0 to 1.9: Hot season (summer) R-value from 2 to 3: Use over 3 seasons (spring/summer/fall) R-value from 3 to 6: Use over 4 seasons R-value > 6: Use in all 4 seasons and in extreme conditions (glacier, far north and high altitudes)

As always with Decathlon, it is excellent quality for the value. Very functional pad and good warmth to weight ratio. Can be tricky to roll back up into the bag and wish the pump sack was detachable from the bag.

Comfortable and warm enough down to about 2c. Plenty long enough for me at 188cm which is nice instead of my feet lying on the cold ground!

Good mat for side sleepers, usually my hips end up on the floor with inflatable mats but this one managed to keep me comfortable all night. Warm enough with a good sleeping bag down to about 0 and just enough silicone grippers to keep my sleeping bag in place.

A bit crinkly, but great product

The "sticky patches" really help my fidgeting at night to not fall off...though others have mentioned it's a bit loud if I am fidgeting a lot, the sleep is good. R rating is realistic, and it's a small enough bag, espeically with the inflating bag included!

Used this in relatively cold weather down to near freezing and never felt cold. The 3.3 R value is pretty good for the price. The stuff sack doubles as a pump bag. 5-6 pimps to get it fully inflated. Very comfy, decent loft to pad. I sleep on my side and no problems with thi

s mat. The grippy marks on the pad are in just the right pace and stop the sleeping bag moving around. It packs up nice and small and good value for money. Well thought out design.

Very comfortable but had to exchange for the XL, being 6’ the L was too small. Easy to inflate using its own bag and packing away is a breeze. Highly recommended

Bought this to replace a mat with next to no thermal protection. Well thought out matt and high quality. Used it twice so far and not felt the cold although it has been warmish. Only 4 stars on thermal performance as I've not tried it when it has been cold yet
