Boardshorts is a term used to designate this type of swimwear used in the world of surfing and watersports. Practical and comfortable, they are suitable for both men and women.
This type of swimwear was created in the 1950s for surfing. In more recent years, they have become a popular style of swim shorts.
The name “boardshorts” comes from their use in water sports using a board, such as surfing. 

What are boardshorts?

The boardshorts in the 100 range are available in sizes S–XXL.
The 500 and 900 ranges are available in US sizes S–XL. Your body shape influences your choice of size.
We always recommend trying on swimwear before purchase. Fasten your shorts and gradually pull them downwards. If they pull down easily, they’re too big and you could be in for a few surprises once in wavy water! 

Choosing the right boardshorts size

Choosing your boardshorts by the waistband 

Shorter cuts (14–17 in) give you freedom of movement and allow you to do a wide range of water sports, including surfing (for occasional sessions of less than 1 hour). Longer cuts (17–20 in) reduce irritation from the board or wax on the thighs, and at the top of the knees when paddling. Therefore, these cuts are better suited to regular or even intensive surfing. 

Choosing boardshorts by length 

Whether it’s due to duck diving or a wipeout, retrieving and repositioning boardshorts that have fallen down isn’t easy while paddling at the same time...
Choosing the right waistband for surfing is essential to avoid such mishaps.
Choose a flat waistband for a more secure fit.

Surely the most important criterion. It is common for other boardshorts or their seams to chafe. Our boardshorts are designed specifically to limit chafing, a common issue for surfers.
In addition, the boardshorts 500 benefit from a central strip that moves the seams away from the usual friction zones, thus significantly limits irritation.

In surfing, bodyboarding, and bodysurfing, the legs are very much in demand, so boardshorts must not restrict motion and  should have an ample amount of stretch. These boardshorts 500 are made with a four-way stretch material.

It’s really uncomfortable to feel sand trapped in your still soaking wet boardshorts, or worse still, to have the shorts themselves sticking to your skin. To avoid this and to maximize comfort when wearing your wet boardshorts, we recommend choosing swim shorts made with a synthetic fibre fabric, such as this model. Water drains away faster and the swimsuit dries quickly, keeping chafing at bay.
