Diving Mask Type

This mask needs no preparation (toothpaste, flame, anti-fog spray) before use. 

To activate the film, first soak the mask in water and lightly rub the inside of the lens before diving. To optimize the efficiency of the anti-fog system, don’t touch the lens with your fingers that may be greasy (e.g., sun cream). 
If lens fogs up, rinse with clean water and rub the inside of the lens lightly with your fingers.


Maintaining the effectiveness of the anti-fog system

The wave guard is located at the top of the snorkel. Its curved shape limits water entry through the snorkel top.
To prevent water from entering your snorkel, we recommend choosing a drytop snorkel with float valve that blocks water.

What's the wave guard for?

Hydrophilic film laminated directly onto the glass. This film prevents fogging underwater.

Anti-fog film

Blow gently to expel any accumulated water through the valve. Inhale carefully after draining, as some water may remain in the snorkel. If in doubt, don’t panic. Raise your head out of the water and the snorkel will drain instantly. High-speed intensive swimming is not recommended, as the valve may get displaced and let water in.

How do I use the purge valve?

Sometimes sand or salt gets stuck between the valve and the rigid part of the snorkel, preventing the valve from creating a watertight seal. If this occurs, simply rinse the snorkel well with clean water and make sure the valve lies flat.

Valve maintenance

When snorkeling, immersion or splashing can cause water to enter the tube. If this happens, the bottom valve makes it easier to expel the water. Unlike traditional snorkels, most of the water is drained from its lower valve, so the diver doesn’t need to blow hard to push the water out of the top.

Dimensions and Weight 

Sand or salt sometimes gets stuck between the valve and the hard part of the snorkel, or at the top of the float. This prevents the valve from lying flat or the float from sliding properly: the seal is no longer guaranteed. Simply rinse the snorkel thoroughly with clean water to ensure the valve is lying flat again and the float at the top slides smoothly.

Safety 

If, despite the dry-top system, you still have some water in the snorkel, the valve at its bottom makes it easier to empty. Unlike traditional snorkels, most of the water is drained from its lower valve, so the diver doesn’t need to blow hard to push the water out of the top. 

What is the valve for? 

If a little water gets inside the snorkel, blow gently to expel it through the purge valve. Raise your head out of the water to drain the snorkel instantly.

How to use the valve 

We used the dry-top technology developed for our Easybreath mask, so water is blocked from entering your snorkel, even if you go completely underwater.
As you dive underwater, a small floater rises and blocks the snorkel tube to prevent water from entering. When you surface, the floater lowers and clears the channel so that you can breathe in fresh air.

- Hold the snorkel in your hand and move it from left to right. The ball should follow the movement without resistance. 
- Check that the seal is present, in good condition and correctly installed. 
- Check that all the valves are present, not deformed and are lying flat.
- Check the overall assembly of the mask and make sure there are no defects in the frame skirt assembly or in the lens. 
- Never use the mask without the snorkel.

What is Easybreath?

What Easybreath masks are available at Decathlon? 

Fresh air is pushed towards the lens before it reaches the wearer’s nose and mouth, which keeps the mask from fogging up.
The air packed with moisture and CO² is evacuated through channels inside the mask’s rim, which lead into the snorkel. The air is constantly renewed. By separating the flow of air going in and out of the mask, the wearer is always breathing in fresh air. Licensed under Ocean Reef Group 

How does the Easybreath work? 

The mask uses Dry-top technology. This system was developed to stop water from entering the snorkel in choppy conditions, during small waves on the surface, in case of submersion, or when the user leans too far forward to observe the seabed. The snorkel is fitted with a float that rises to close the opening when the snorkel is submerged. When this happens, remember to lift the snorkel out of the water and exhale in the mask to make sure the float comes back down. 

Waterproofing: how the dry-top system stops water entry

The Easybreath mask's air volume is greater than that of traditional diving masks. At just 1 m down, the pressure of the mask on your face becomes very uncomfortable. Freedivers also need to be able to decompress. In the Easybreath+ mask, this is impossible because the nose is inaccessible. An Easybreath 900 mask is what you need to descend below the surface. 

Can I dive with my Easybreath mask? 

This full-face snorkelling mask is comfortable to wear and provides a wide field of vision. 
It’s ideal for people who want to observe the underwater world from the surface. 

Why choose Easybreath over a traditional valve mask? 

The Easybreath Adult Surface Mask comes in 2 sizes and covers 90% of an adult’s face.
For smaller faces, choose S/M. For larger faces, choose size M/L.

To choose the right size in store, tighten the mask to ensure it fits against your face: there should be no gap between your chin and the bottom of the mask. 

Choosing Easybreath size 

Having a beard prevents your mask’s skirt from fitting properly. Therefore, the seal of this full face mask is not guaranteed for bearded users. For a watertight seal, shaving is recommended. Alternatively, you might also apply a thick balm such as Vaseline. 

Can I wear the Easybreath if I have a beard? 

You can repair your Easybreath mask to extend its lifespan. After-sales service is available at your local Decathlon store. Replacement parts (strap, cover, snorkel, valves) are all available online or in store.

Can Easybreath mask be repaired if it breaks?

Most glasses will distort the mask skirt and prevent a watertight seal. As a result, using this mask with glasses is not ideal.


Can I wear glasses with my Easybreath mask?

Watch out for sand! Avoid letting your full-face snorkelling Easybreath mask make contact with sand as this can scratch the lens. If you find sand in your mask, rinse the snorkel and mask well before clipping them together. Sand can also clog the float valve inside the snorkel. Vigorously rinse the snorkel or use a key you can fit through its rear vents to unblock the float valve, then rinse the snorkel again.

Can my Easybreath 6/10 mask be repaired if it breaks?

Decathlon’s Easybreath 6/10 snorkeling mask is not designed for diving. The air volume in the Subea Easybreath mask is more extensive than traditional diving masks. From just 1 m down, the pressure of the mask becomes very uncomfortable on your face. Freedivers also need to be able to decompress, which is impossible with this mask because the nose is not accessible.

Can I dive with my Easybreath 6/10?

The Decathlon Easybreath mask is the preferred choice for anyone who is wary about diving with a snorkel in their mouth. The Easybreath is ideal for shallow aquatic activities. It allows for natural nose-mouth breathing and a wide field of vision.
