Snorkeling safety
Snorkeling is an easy and fun activity for all the family! Breathing through a snorkel is more physically demanding than regular swimming. If you feel tired, short of breath or dizzy, remove your mask and snorkel and get out of the water. The use of this product is not recommended if you have cardiovascular problems (chest infection, angina, asthma, high blood pressure, heart disease, etc.). Consult your doctor if in doubt.
Sizing
Children ages 6 to 10 should try a size S. After age 10, size M is recommended for narrow faces, and size L for wider faces.
How to choose the right mask size
Place the mask on your face without the strap. Press to make sure the mask is firmly in place. If the mask “suctions” properly and stays on your face, that means it fits and will be watertight. If it falls off, you’ll need to try another size, as water will be able to seep in.
Prevent your mask from fogging up
New mask: Wash your mask with liquid soap and warm water. Use your fingers to remove any grease. Don’t use a sponge. Before each use, spit into your mask and wipe the lens with your fingers to rinse it. Wet your face to limit heat loss between the skin and your mask lens. This will help minimize fogging.
Silicone
Silicone is a very flexible material. It gently moulds to the contours of your face, creating a watertight seal.
Tempered glass lens (sizes M/L), polycarbonate lens (size S)
Tempered glass is 2 to 5 times more durable than standard glass. It is more scratch resistant than polycarbonate. If it shatters, it breaks into small pieces, reducing the risk of major injury. For children’s safety, size S is made of polycarbonate.
