How does an electric-assist bike work?

With its rear-wheel motor and torque sensor, this bike makes getting around easy and sweat-free: the motor activates as soon as you pedal, and the assistance is proportional to the force you exert on the pedals.

Motor / sensor

Shimano Step E 5000 250-watt central motor. Torque 40 Nm. Combined with a torque and cadence sensor in the bottom bracket, this provides a smooth, progressive pedalling feel and better management of energy consumption.

Battery

36V 11.6 Ah (418Wh) lithium-ion battery locked in the bike frame for better integration and protection. Key-operated quick release (2 keys supplied) for recharging. Weight: 2.65 kg (6 lbs)Charging time: Full charge - 6.5 hours, 80% charge - 3.5 hours. Battery capacity: 1,000 charge cycles. After 1,000 full charge cycles, more than 250Wh=60% remains.

Control screen

The whole system is controlled by an LCD dashboard with 3 modes + 1 "walk" mode for walking alongside your bike.

Assistance modes

Mode 0 - Off Mode 1 - Economy +70% assistance. Extend range while conserving battery power. Up to 150 km (90 mi) range. Mode 2 - Standard +120% assistance. The most standard mode, combining ease of use and reasonable fuel consumption. Up to 90 km (55 mi) range Mode 3 - Boost +250%. Pull out all the engine's power when the road rises. Up to 60 km (40 mi) range Walk mode - assistance when pushing your bike.

Weight / yield

The pedaling position, with a chest angle of around 60°, is the right compromise for good performance and comfort. The bike's performance and the choice of electric-assist components mean you'll gain time and autonomy, and ride effortlessly in all conditions. Bike weight : 19.37 kg (43 lbs) including battery.

Brake

Tektro HD-M275 hydraulic disc brakes. These brakes, also used on mountain bikes, ensure powerful, easy, and progressive braking in all weather conditions. Aluminum levers 160 mm (6") disc diameters.

Tire

Kenda Kwick Trax tires feature an exclusive stud pattern for excellent asphalt handling and good grip on wet and dry roads. Tire size: 700 mm x 38 c

Saddle / seat post

Foam saddle for a comfortable ride. Aluminum seat post Collar diameter = 34.9 mm (1 2/5"). Seatpost diameter = 30.9 mm (1 1/5"). Quick-release seatpost clamp.

Crankset / pedals

City pedals with metal axle and aluminum body. Wide, patterned bearing surface for comfort and good grip on your shoes. Shimano Steps E 5010 aluminum cranks.

Mudguard

To keep you clean and dry in all conditions, the bike is equipped with a set of mudguards designed exclusively for this range of bikes. Mudguard with double screwed stem for maximum stability and strength.

Kickstand

The 35 kg (77 lbs) aluminum rear stand ensures greater stability when the bike is loaded with panniers on the luggage rack. The rear stand does not touch the cranks when the bike is pushed forward or backward during stationary maneuvers.
