These pants have elastic gaiters at the ankles to cover your boots. The seal created by the gaiters keeps the snow out.

Practical info: How can I stop snow from getting into my bib pants?

To make sure you stay warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-layer rule:
- Layer 1, a base layer to keep you dry. 
- Layer 2, an insulating layer to keep you warm. 
- Layer 3, a protective layer against the elements.

How to dress your children so they stay warm on the slopes

The resistance of a fabric is measured by the height of the water column (measured in mm) that the fabric can withstand (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. The fabric of the Salopettes 500 has a waterproof rating of 10,000 mm, meaning it is able to withstand the pressure of 10,000 mm of water.
For skiing, we recommend fabrics with resistance between 3,000 mm and 10,000 mm.

How is fabric waterproofing measured?

To optimize your product’s performance and durability: 
*Machine wash at 30°C on a synthetics cycle. Turn the product inside out. Use a small amount of detergent. Do not use fabric softener.
*Spin between 800 and 1,200 rpm.
*Dry flat or tumble dry.
Do not dry clean. Do not place on a radiator or heat source.

All Wedze gloves and mittens have a water-repellent treatment that makes water slide across the fabric’s surface instead of being absorbed. As a result, the fabric does not become saturated with water. It remains light and warm. A treatment applied to the outer surface makes the fabric water repellent. 

Water repellency of the component

These ski gloves have a water-resistant membrane (a very thin polymer film) between the lining and the outer part of the glove. This membrane acts as a barrier, making the product waterproof. The product’s exterior materials are also treated for water repellency. Only a rubber glove is watertight. Under extremely wet conditions, a glove with a membrane will have limited waterproofness.

All Wedze gloves and mittens are windproof. Did you know that the wind makes you feel colder? At an outside temperature of 0°C and a wind speed of 20 km/h, the temperature will feel like -10°C. Windproof fabrics limit wind chill and cold.
