We designed water-repellent clothing to protect you during your cross-country skiing outings.
A fabric’s water repellency is its ability to make water run off its surface without being absorbed. 
The water-repellent property is obtained by applying a treatment to the outer surface of the fabric. This treatment needs to be reapplied throughout the garment’s lifetime (we recommend every three washes).

Water-repellent properties

We recommend using the three-layer technique for your winter activities: 
Layer 1: a second skin (high-tech base layer) to wick away moisture, keeping your skin dry.
Layer 2: an insulating layer (T-shirt or fleece) to provide warmth and transfer moisture outwards.
Layer 3: an outer protective layer (jacket) to protect against weather conditions: wind, snow, and cold.

Adjust the number of layers based on the level of physical effort and the weather and make sure that the clothing is breathable.

How to stay warm and dry during your cross-country skiing outings

To avoid dampness, wear breathable clothing that eliminates perspiration. 
We measure the evaporative resistance (RET) of our clothing 
RET <6: extremely breathable, ideal for the most intense physical effort
RET 6-12: very breathable, suitable for moderate physical effort
RET 12-20: moderately breathable, not particularly pleasant when making physical effort
RET >20: not very breathable and therefore not suitable when making physical effort

Why is it important to wear breathable clothing when cross-country skiing?

Did you know that the wind can make you feel colder? An outdoor temperature of 0° with a wind speed of 20 km/h feels like -10°. Windproof components help reduce this chill effect by preventing air circulation caused by the wind itself or the relative speed of the activity.

the 150 Cross Country Fish Scale Classic Ski is perfectly suited to your needs.
This wide, stable, manoeuvrable ski will make it easier for you to start and discover the joys of classic cross-country skiing!

1 - The 150 Cross Country Ski: the ski for beginners!

Size is based on ability and weight rather than height.

For the 150 Classic Cross-Country Skis with fish scales: 
- 50 to 60 kg => 185 cm
- 60 to 75 kg => 195 cm
- 80 to 95 kg => 200 cm
- more than 90 kg = 205 cm

If you are between two sizes: 
- For more comfort and manoeuvrability, choose the shorter size.
- For more intense use, choose the larger size.

2 - Selecting the right size

The grip of a cross-country ski refers to the central area of the base (underside of the ski).

This provides the grip needed to avoid slipping in uphill sections while providing smooth glide performance on flat or descending terrain.
There are 3 systems for grip: fish scales, grip wax, or skins.

The 150 Cross-Country Skis are equipped with a fish scale anti-reverse system that provides excellent grip for avoiding problems in climbs

3 - Fish scale grip—guaranteed anti-slip system!

All our skis are sold with Rottefella bindings that are compatible with NNN, Prolink, and Turnamic.

The 150 Cross-Country Skis are equipped with Rottefella Basic Auto bindings—perfect for beginner skiers.
They’re easy to use, with a step-in function that lets you simply press down at the forefoot to put your skis on and remove your skis by pressing the button at the front with the tip of your ski pole.

4 - Basic auto bindings—simplicity at its finest!

We recommend that you prepare the underside of new skis for optimum glide. Several consecutive waxings are best to build up a proper base. 

To keep your skis in top condition, remember to wax them often!

5 - Waxing, the secret of sustainability!

Our skis are made with a “sandwich” structure: different materials are layered in the core of the ski and across its full width. 
The final product is assembled with a press.

Core = the centre of the ski: wooden (solid or grooved) or composite (honeycomb or Nomex®)
 Base = the part in contact with snow, made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE)
Grip = the area under the ski 
Sidecuts = width of a ski at the nose, waist, and tail.
