What is OUTDOOR CONTACT© grip?

Our sandals undergo a series of intensive tests: they are tested indoors by a panel of testers, and they undergo field tests, long-term tests to assess durability and laboratory tests to assess grip, toxicity and durability. After six months of rigorous tests, we then approve the product.

How do we test our sandals?

- Clean off mud: remove dry mud with a hard brush,
- Treat stains: brush with warm water,
- Drying: air dry until fully dry.

What is the weight of a sandal?

To find the right sandal, try on several different sizes and models. Ultimately go for a snug-fitting size to avoid rubbing when going downhill, and always ensure your heels remain well-supported, to prevent the foot from moving around in the sandal.

Thanks to your feedback, we improved the design of the 10 litre Arpenaz NH 50 Hiking Backpack.
We added a double zipper on the main compartment and a larger pocket bottom on the outside pocket. The aim is to not lose your belongings when opening your bag. 
And of course, the price hasn’t increased!

The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardized method: the main compartment and all the pockets are filled with little balls. These balls are then emptied into a graduated container to get the equivalent volume in litres.

How is volume measured?

Put heavy items at the bottom. Pack your clothes around these items. Keep your waterproof jacket and/or fleece in an easy-to-access location. Place small frequently used items in the pockets (sunscreen, map, glasses, etc.). 

How to pack your backpack

At Decathlon, all of our Quechua backpacks are guaranteed for 10 years against normal product wear and tear. In the case of a defect, we recommend its repair, replacement, or a refund. The guarantee covers the components from the zip to the seams: more information can be found on our website.

The following components were validated in the lab: fabric, buckles, straps, foam, and zippers. For example, we test the fabric’s resistance to abrasion and tearing, colourfastness, and waterproofing. We also check the resistance of the construction using a dummy that reproduces a hiker’s movements to replicate several years of wear and tear.

Tested for optimal durability

1 - Loosen all the straps (straps, belt, and load adjuster straps).
2 - Put the backpack on.
3 - Tighten the shoulder straps.
4 - Adjust the load adjuster straps as needed.

How to adjust your backpack

The water-repellent components allow you to continue walking or hiking in light rain for short periods. Note: This backpack is not watertight or waterproof and does not come with a rain cover.

They are also suitable for other water sports: canoeing, kayaking, stand up paddling (SUP).

These shoes are designed to be used on stony terrain, coral sands, or even pebbles.
Yes, you can walk on rocks in Decathlon’s Aquashoes 120, but you won’t enjoy optimal comfort. Watch out for slippery, algae-covered rocks: the grip may be reduced. 

Can I walk on rocks with them? 

Machine wash with detergent at 30°C maximum. Choose a delicate cycle.
Air dry and keep away from the sun. 

Are these shoes machine washable? 

Our slim, snug fit water shoes keep your feet hydrodynamic when moving through water. Choose your usual shoe size. If you can’t try them on in person, remember that you can always exchange them.

Durability

Our hiking boots offer heightened comfort. We have included various design features in these boots to take care of your feet such as the EVA foam insole (flexible thermoplastic) and heel pad.
The insoles are also removable so they can be washed.

Comfort

The sole design is the result of extensive research conducted in our labs. It is composed of a specific rubber formula that optimizes grip and traction. We are always looking for the best solution for forest and coastal walking trails.
Wearing the boots on paved roads can lead to the premature wear of your boots and cause discomfort. They are not suitable for mountain hiking.

Resistant soles for hiking trails

These shoes are somewhat breathable, but not enough to wick away all moisture. Wear them with the Hike 50 Mid Socks: these socks are made with moisture-absorbing cotton and have a reverse terry-knit structure underneath that wicks moisture away from your feet. They’re also high enough to protect your ankles. High socks reduce the chance of blisters.
