This parka was developed for winter conditions such as intense cold, snow, and storms. Insulation is provided by the thick synthetic wadding that traps air (double layer on the body and single layer at the arms). A long inner flap beneath the zipper blocks cold air. The system is supplemented by a drawcord at the hem to make the jacket comfortable down to -20°C.

Comfort and limit temperatures

The jacket has a waterproof material that keeps out water and wind. To stay warm in winter, you must also protect your extremities (head, hands, feet). The storm-proof hood’s detachable synthetic fur, wrist cuffs, and high collar keep out the cold. The fleece-lined, high handwarmer pockets protect your hands.

How does this parka protect you from outdoor conditions?

The waterproofness of a jacket isn’t just limited to its components: the assembly technique also makes a difference. Whether heat-sealed or sewn then waterproofed, this jacket’s overall waterproofness is measured using a shower test developed by Decathlon, which simulates rain of different intensities. This waterproof parka protects you from a downpour, i.e., 12 cm of rain in 2 hours.

Waterproofing

The waterproofness of a fabric, provided by a coating or membrane, is measured in Schmerbers or mm (pressure exerted by a column of water). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. This jacket has a waterproof component (JIS 1092 standard) resistant to 15,000 mm water (Schmerbers) before washing.

Component waterproofing

Taped main seams ensure that your jacket is waterproof. The inside seams are also sealed with waterproof tape to prevent water seeping into more vulnerable areas.
The waterproofing is verified with a test that replicates the conditions of a two-hour rain shower. The jacket was also field-tested in all weather conditions to make sure it’s suitable for your activities.

Water often gets in through the seams. Does this jacket have waterproof seams?

Practical, smart details: 2 hand warmer pockets, 2 outside pockets with flap, 1 secure inside pocket, and 2 inside mesh pockets to keep everything handy. 
The main zipper has a long zipper pull and snap buttons as well as a thumb loop so you can open or close your jacket while keeping your hands snug in your gloves. The 2 zippers at the bottom of the jacket allow you to easily bend or sit down comfortably.

A comfortable, uniquely styled parka for cold conditions

Durability tests are conducted on selected components: resistance to rubbing and abrasion, colourfastness, and resistance to repeated washing. All these tests have been conducted on the jacket material.

Will this parka withstand regular use long-term?

Water repellency is a fabric’s capacity to make water run off its surface without being absorbed. It prevents the fabric from soaking up water, keeping it lightweight, warm, and breathable. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. The garment should be retreated over its lifespan (recommended after each wash). Products for this purpose (spray or liquid) are available in our stores.

How to preserve the technical qualities of your parka

Whatever your cold-weather activity, use the three-layer technique:
Layer 1: A high-tech base layer to wick moisture away from the body and keep your skin dry.
 Layer 2: A fleece jacket or sweater to provide warmth and transfer moisture outward.
 Layer 3: A jacket to protect against the elements (rain, snow, and wind). 
To eliminate moisture, the whole outfit must be breathable.

How to dress properly for hiking in cold weather

This product is guaranteed for two years from the date shown on the sales receipt. A product covered by the warranty will be exchanged free of charge. The warranty covers product defects, excluding those resulting from normal wear and tear or improper use.
