The waterproofing of a fabric is measured in Schmerbers or mm of water (pressure of a water column). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. 
This jacket is designed with a waterproof coating: this component resists 5,000 mm of water (Schmerbers) before washing (equivalent to the pressure exerted by a 5,000 mm column of water).

Water resistance of the fabric

The fabric of our product is very breathable -12 RET.
Component breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET). This refers to its capacity to release perspiration during activity. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. 
RET ≤ 9: extremely breathable fabric;
RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric
RET ≤ 20: breathable fabric
RET ≤ 20: little or non-breathable fabric

Fabric breathability

To maintain water repellency, we recommend regular reactivation.
Reactivate water repellency after three washes (remember to rinse thoroughly) or after using a dozen times in the rain. 
You can easily reactivate the water repellency properties by warming the fabric:
- in a dryer for 15 minutes (synthetics cycle)
- with a hair dryer, moving back and forth from a distance of 20 cm (8”)
- with an iron on the delicate setting and with the steam function off

What does the anti-UV material do?  
It protects your eyes from UV rays.
UV radiation is present in winter and summer, in sunny and cloudy weather, and can be harmful to your eyes and their contours.
The lenses of our sunglasses are made of polycarbonate mixed with an anti-UV material to protect you from the harmful rays of the sun (UVA and UVB).

Anti-UV

Tinted lens classification based on ISO 12312-1 standard: 
- Category 1: lens with a light tint for reduced sunlight. 
- Category 2: lens with a medium tint for average sunlight. 
- Category 3: dark lens to for strong sunlight (sea and mountains). Between 82% and 92% visible light absorbed
- Category 4: very dark lens, for exceptional sunlight (high mountains). Between 92% and 97% visible light absorbed

Glare

Our lenses are made of polycarbonate, a highly resistant material whose major weakness is vulnerability to scratching. 
Even if your lenses are scratched, the UV protection does not decrease; the mirror effect is purely for aesthetic purposes.
The same goes for the colour of our tinted lenses.
Choose your glasses according to your preference. You will be protected, whatever the colour.

Good to know

We use Rilsan Clear G850 Rnew, a polymer derivative of castor oil, for the frame of these sunglasses.
This bio-based material is a real asset in our development process and is tailored to making lightweight and flexible frames.

How do we test waterproofing?

When walking in the forest, on the coast or on the daily, your feet are put through numerous constraints. Rubbing boots can be unpleasant, especially when you’re sweating, but the cold can be really lead to an uncomfortable hike if you don’t have adequate protection.

Try several sizes and models to find the right boot. You may want to choose a size larger than your usual size for greater comfort when walking downhill. Choose sports socks that are suitable for hiking to prevent your feet from overheating.

Which size should you choose?

Three hiking levels:

Occasional: 10 hikes per year, 3–4 hrs, < 10 km (6 miles), 700 m (2,300 ft) altitude climb.
Regular: 20 hikes per year, 4–6 hrs, 10–20 km (6–12 miles), 700–1,200 m (2,300–3,900 ft) altitude climb.
Intensive: > 20 hikes per year, > 6 hrs, > 20 km (12 miles), up to 2,000 m (6,500 ft) altitude climb.

These MH 100s are suitable for occasional use.

How often and how intensely can you hike?

To prevent blisters, choose well-fitting boots, wear suitable socks, and adjust the laces properly before climbs and descents. Start with short walks to break in your new pair.

How can you avoid blisters?

Our boots undergo an intensive test in the lab to guarantee their waterproofing properties. They are immersed in water up to a certain level, replicating real-life hiking conditions. This test ensures that your feet stay dry, even in wet or rainy conditions.

For comfortable hikes, choose socks with merino wool or synthetic yarn for better breathability and to prevent blisters. Choose a thickness that suits the season and terrain, and make sure your boots fit snugly over the top, without any creases.

How to choose the right socks

Air dry. Leave them to dry naturally. 
Clean off any mud: Remove dry mud with a stiff brush. 
Treat any stains: Brush with warm water. 
Drying: Make sure they are completely dry. 
Restore the waterproof properties: Spray with a solution to restore water repellency.
