Wow, the best carbon shoe for running 21k or marathons. These are super light, responsive and will last at least 400-500km. These will be my race and workout shoe for the whole year!

I have recently bought these trainers and they are first pair of carbon fibre plate running shoes. It is early days with them but I love them! I have contemplated buying a pair of fibre plate trainers for some time. I tried these trainers on at the London Marathon running sh
ow. Dawn, one of the Kiprun team was brilliant and very knowledgeable about the design of the shoe and it’s benefits. I tried the trainers out running on the treadmill at the show and I could instantly feel the bounce in them. They were so light and comfortable to wear! Since buying them, I have done a couple of runs in them and can instantly see the difference in my running. I have used them for a track training session and consistently knocked between 6 and 10 seconds off my 400m time! Looking forward to summer training season in these trainers!

Initially i ran 2 x 10km training runs, both were quick and enjoyable compared to my usual NB 1080s. Then I ran a city marathon in which I had to check my speed in the first half as I was worried about being too fast. By the end they were still comfortable with no rubbing or b
listers. Its difficult to say for sure but i estimate i was between 5 and 10 mins faster than i would have been in the 1080s. Although still expensive these shoes are great value and I will consider other kiprun shoes in the future. My only complaint is the size of the labels inside which I had to cut right back as they were uncomfortable.

Every bit an elite shoe and well worth a try! My best advice: stop thinking of this shoe as something that should be compared to "big brands". It's good enough to stand on its own. Just put it on and see if it works for you. All shoes depend on fit, your stride, your stren
gths/weaknesses etc., so nothing is perfect for everyone. For me, this is really good. I like springy, low volume, wider toebox, snug heel/forefoot, neutral, shoes for mid/forefoot strikers. I mainly run 5k(20 min), 10k(42 min) and half-marathon(1h 39min), but I'd happily take this for 26.2 miles. QUALITY: hard to judge on one week, but the initial material/build quality looks/feels very good and the rubber on the bottom is ample, so should last a long time. FIT: I have a long'ish (UK 11.5) foot, narrow heel, average midfoot, wide, but low volume forefoot. This shoe fits me perfectly. It hugs my heel nicely, the midfoot lockdown is very solid, and the forefoot allows my foot to splay decently without having too much height/volume. Normally in larger sizes there is too much height and the fabric bunches when you lace up... not the case here. Love the little pad at the top of the tonge to relieve lace pressure. There are small foam sidewalls just forward of the heel which help keep you planted when cornering or when your stride gets tired/lazy. SIZING: I went a half size down. Normally a UK 11.5, EU 47, I went with a UK 11, EU 46 and it's spot on. I had the benefit of trying them on at the London Marathon Expo, so I could get the right size the first time. CUSHION/SPRING: This is my one comparison to give you a place to start (and allay concerns from the previous version). It's somewhere between the Vaporfly 3 and Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 2. The squish of the Vaporfly and the lively spring of the Deviate Nitro Elite. The plate is less rigid than many racers, being less rigid in the midfoot and springy-er in the forefoot. But despite what they tell you, plates don't do much work anyway, they stabilize the soft foams. Not heavily rockered, which I would like to see in v3 of this shoe, thus 4.9/5.0 rating. The forefoot sensation is magic in these. PROS: Build quality, Price, cushion in forefoot (MAGIC!), lace pad, light, good looking, lockdown, minimal heel counter, durable grip CONS: Would like to see a version with more rocker, but that may ruin the dynamism of the shoe. Even without the rocker, the shoe is quick. The external material on the medial side (inside) of the heel is a little scratchy, so if you catch that part in your stride it may rub a bit.
