Additional features

Waterproof pants are important to keep you dry but shouldn’t trap moisture from perspiration.
Vents are key for wicking away perspiration.
This is why we have equipped these pants with two ventilation zippers and two large zippers along the thighs (28 cm/11” in size L).

Water-repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in. This helps the fabric stay light, breathable, and warm. 
Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. 
This treatment needs to be reapplied during the life of the garment (recommended every three washes). All our Wedze clothing has received a water-repellent treatment.

Water repellency

A fabric’s water resistance is measured by the height of a water column in mm it can support (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with a waterproof rating of 15,000 mm can therefore withstand the pressure exerted by 15,000 mm of water.

Component waterproofing

To determine a fabric’s breathability, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). A lower evaporative resistance means more perspiration can escape, increasing the fabric’s breathability.  For example: 
RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric 9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric 
12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric 
RET > 20 = little or no breathability

The coating is like a paint applied to the inside of the fabric, making it waterproof yet breathable. A membrane is a very thin plastic (polyurethane) film that makes the material waterproof while remaining breathable. Flexible, lighter, and more durable than a coating, it is often also more breathable.

A garment’s waterproofness depends on its fabric, seam sealing, and design.
Then shower tests are conducted.

How do we make a garment waterproof?

This garment was shower-tested under 100 L (26.5 gal) of water/m²/hour for 3 hours. 
This test reproduces the conditions of a heavy storm.

In addition to breathable materials, other technical features (zippers, vents, mesh) improve the overall ventilation of our ski jackets and pants. These ventilation features regulate the temperature inside the garment and help to eliminate perspiration.

How do you make a garment breathable?

This product is repairable. 
We commit to repairing your product free of charge for the duration of the warranty. If you need the seams, zippers, or another element repaired, contact your store.

With Recco® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche. Anyone buried in the snow equipped with Recco® reflectors can be quickly and accurately located by emergency services using the Recco® tracker. Recco® reflectors are not a substitute for an avalanche beacon. Recco® technology works as an additional safeguard, increasing the chances of being found in time.
