Our leggings keep you warm in temperatures as low as -4.7°C. The brushed fabric interior traps air to insulate. A thermal barrier is created to keep your body warm. The windproof fabric reinforces this barrier against the cold.

Will these leggings keep me warm?

The thermal resistance test shows the loss of heat between the body and the outside, indicating the insulating properties of the product. It can be done on the fabric using thermal probes or clothing with thermal models, measuring the retention of body heat.

How is thermal comfort measured?

These leggings are designed with a water-repellent fabric that lets water run off its surface without soaking into the fabric. In case of light rain, you stay dry.

Why wear water-repellent leggings?

You must regularly reactivate the water-repellent treatment, ideally after each wash. Suitable products are available as a spray or liquid in our stores and on our website.

Restoring water repellency

When hiking, moving freely is essential. The elastane in the fabric makes it stretchier so you can move freely. Added to that is a high elastic waistband with laces that supports you without digging in. These leggings really have it all.

Why have stretch fabric?

These leggings have a pocket on the thigh to hold your phone. A well-hidden second zipped pocket at the back of the waistband is perfect for your car keys or cards.

How to quickly convert the shorts back to pants

We deliberately designed the pockets to close downward.
The zipper does not cause irritation when you tighten your backpack’s waist belt, and your belongings stay safe in your pockets.

Hand pocket opening direction

These pants have water-repellent zones (lower leg at the front and seat) that prevent water from seeping through the fabric. This product is water-repellent, not waterproof.
The water-repellent property slows down water penetration and prevents the pants from getting wet too fast. It won’t keep you dry under constant rain. To stay dry, you need to wear rain pants (ref. number 8504646). Water-repellent properties can be reactivated by putting the pants in the dryer for 10 minutes on low.

How does the fabric insulate you from the cold?

We perform two kinds of tests to measure the warmth of our fleece:
- a material test 
- tests on a thermal manikin in a thermal chamber We reproduce wind (5 km/h), temperature, and humidity conditions typical for mountains on a 5 km/h hike.
These lab tests determine the design, and then it’s approved by field testers. 
Wearing only this fleece will keep you comfortable at temperatures ranging from 7°C to 10°C.

Reactivate water repellency after three washes (remember to rinse thoroughly) or after using a dozen times in the rain. 
You can easily reactivate water repellency by warming the fabric: 
- in a dryer for 15 minutes (synthetics cycle) - with a hair dryer, moving back and forth from a distance of 20 cm (8”), twice
- with an iron on the delicate setting and with the steam function off

Long-lasting performance 

The waterproofing of a fabric is measured in Schmerbers or mm of water (pressure of a water column). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. 
This jacket is designed with a waterproof coating: this component resists 5,000 mm of water (Schmerbers) before washing (equivalent to the pressure exerted by a 5,000 mm column of water).

The NH 100 hiking leggings are designed to keep you warm on your country hikes in cool weather. 

Ironing at a maximum soleplate temperature of 110°C. Steam treatment may cause irreversible damage.
