To prevent blisters, choose boots in your size, and wear close-fitting socks so your foot remains very stable both on climbs and descents. Start with short outings to break in the boots.

You can walk for hours without your feet getting tired or keep them on your feet all day long while working around the house. Whether you wear them to walk through fields or along muddy, puddle-covered trails, these waterproof boots will protect you from the rain and keep your feet dry. Keep away from brambles, dense undergrowth and chemical products.

These boots aren’t made to take on brambles, dense undergrowth, or barbed wire. There’s a high risk the plastic may be torn in these harsh environments. They’re perfect for slight challenging muddy terrain without many brambles.

Restrictions on use

To keep your boots in good condition, clean them after each use with water and/or pH-neutral soap (avoid using hard brushes or abrasive sponges). Wipe dry with a cloth or let dry in a well-ventilated place away from heat sources. Store your boots upright, preferably in a well-ventilated dry place. It goes without saying that you can go in the water up to leg lenght.

Our hiking boots provide extra comfort. This hiking boot has an EVA foam midsole and insole (ethylene vinyl acetate), and the neck of the shoe (top of the heel) includes synthetic foam.
We also made the heels seamless.

How do you measure comfort for the NH 500 Leather Hiking Boots?

We conducted tests on various elements of the shoes, including tear resistance of eyelets and straps, bonding, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of outsole and upper components, and accelerated aging.
We use a variety of tests to improve the quality of our products and prevent premature wear for our hiking shoes.

How do you measure durability for the NH 500 Leather Hiking Boots?

The sole design is the result of extensive research conducted in our labs. The sole is composed of a specific rubber formula that optimizes grip and traction. We are always looking for the best solution for walking on forest and coastal trails.
Wearing the boots on paved roads can lead to the premature wear and cause discomfort. Not suitable for mountain hiking.

How do the NH 500 Leather Hiking Boots provide grip on hiking trails?

These boots are somewhat breathable, but not enough to wick away all moisture. We recommend the Hike 100 Low or Mid Socks. They contain moisture-absorbing cotton and have a reverse terry-knit structure underneath that wicks moisture away from your feet. They’re also high enough to protect your ankles. High socks reduce the chance of blisters.

Which pair of socks should you wear with the NH 500 Leather Hiking Boots?

We conducted lab tests that simulate walking with the boots half-submerged in water. We also conducted field tests to measure wear and aging. During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofness: 2,000 flexes (30-minute hike), 10,000 flexes (3-hour hike), and 30,000 flexes (6-hour hike). This boot has been tested for up to 30,000 flexes, equivalent to a 6 km (3.7 mile) hike.

How waterproof are the NH 500 Leather Hiking Boots?

- Leave to air dry.
- Remove dry mud with a stiff brush.
- Clean stains with a brush and a little lukewarm water.
- Air dry.
- Use a re-waterproofing spray (product ref. 8677748) to restore water repellency to the upper.

Three hiking levels:

Occasional: 10 hikes per year, 3–4 h, < 10 km, 700 m altitude climb.
Regular: 20 hikes per year, 4–6 hr, 10–20 km, 700–1,200 m altitude climb.
Intensive: > 20 hikes per year, > 6 h, > 20 km, up to 2,000 m altitude climb.

These MH 100s are suitable for occasional use.

How often and how intensely can you hike?

To prevent blisters, choose well-fitting shoes, wear suitable socks, and adjust the laces properly before climbs and descents. Start with short walks to break in your new pair.

How to prevent blisters

Our shoes undergo an intensive test in the lab to guarantee their waterproofing properties. They are immersed in water up to a certain level, replicating real-life hiking conditions. This test ensures that your feet stay dry, even in wet or rainy conditions.

How do we test waterproofing?

For comfortable hikes, choose socks with merino wool or synthetic yarn for better breathability and to prevent blisters. Choose a thickness that suits the season and terrain, and make sure your shoes fit snugly over the top, without any creases.

Air dry. Leave them to dry naturally. 
Clean off any mud: Remove dry mud with a stiff brush.

We’ve designed these waterproof overtrousers for hiking or playing outside, even in the event of rain or changeable weather. Owing to its 10,000 mm Schmerber waterproof fabric (equivalent to a three-hour storm), they will stay dry.

How waterproof is it?

The Schmerber rating measures the waterproofing ability of a fabric. The higher the number, the drier you stay. With 10,000 mm H2O (Schmerbers), these overtrousers can withstand a water column of 10 m! Validated at 4/5 by our shower test, it will keep your children dry for up to  three hours of rain.
