You should choose your petanque boule based on several factors.

Your playing style (pointer, shooter, all-rounder) will determine
the desired bounce quality (hard, semi-soft, soft, or very soft) 
and the weight of your boule (heavier for pointers and lighter for shooters). 

The size of your hand will determine the boule's diameter.

How to choose the right size

The boule’s hardness is expressed in HRC units or kg/mm².
For example, 45 HRC corresponds to 146 kg/mm². 

The higher the number, the harder the boule. The harder the boule, the less likely it is to get damaged and the higher its elasticity.

What does hardness mean for a petanque boule?

Our competition boules are hollow. This is our manufacturing process: - A lump of steel heated to +/- 1000 C° is flattened and then stamped or forged into a hemisphere 
- These hemispheres are machined inside, welded together, and rotated until they are spherical. 
- The boule is then engraved, baked, and dipped in water. 
- Finally, they are polished or varnished and then inspected.

How competition-approved Geologic boules are made

After each match, wipe away dust with a clean cloth. Oil your petanque boules once a month to prevent them from rusting. Regular cleaning lengthens the lifespan of your petanque boules while keeping them competition ready.

This fleece sweatshirt is fitted yet comfortable. We recommend wearing a technical undergarment as a base layer for added protection from the cold. This fleece sweatshirt was designed to be layered under a windproof/waterproof jacket, such as our Women’s MH 100.

How does the fabric insulate you from the cold?

We perform two kinds of tests to measure the warmth of our fleece:
- a material test 
- tests on a thermal manikin in a thermal chamber  We reproduce wind (5 km/h; 3 mph), temperature, and humidity conditions typically encountered in the mountains on a 5 km/h (3 mph) hike.
These laboratory tests determine the design, which is then validated by field testers. 
This fleece will keep you comfortable at temperatures ranging from 7°C to 10°C, with no extra layer.
