Don’t throw it away, fix it!

The back of this backpack has been fully reworked for greater comfort: a tight net with a frame gives you more space between your back and the bag to reduce the accumulation of moisture. The mesh net used for the back is also softer than on previous backpacks. What’s more, this new backpack comes in small and large. 
The 2 side pockets are more spacious and stretchy, and it’s easier to access a bottle on the side.

Differences from the old MH 500 backpack

During several field tests with hikers of different sizes, we noticed that the difference in hiker comfort mainly involved the height of the back of the bag, between 20 and 40 litres (4.5 and 9 gal). Our backpacks therefore come in two sizes for improved comfort. If you are taller than 170 cm (5’6”), go for size L. If you are shorter than 170 cm (5’6”), you will be better off with a size S.

Which size should you choose?

The bag can hold a 1-litre (1 qt.), 2-litre (2 qt.), or 3-litre (3 qt.) water bladder. However, it will take up space that could be used for storing other belongings.
The side pockets are designed to hold 1-litre (1 qt.) water bottles.

Hydration

The colour was chosen for visibility in the mountains in case of an emergency. The orange colour makes the backpack visible from a helicopter. 
It’s also visible on the road when cycling.

Why are our rain covers orange?

When you are travelling by plane, the maximum authorized carry-on luggage size is generally 55 x 35 x 25 cm (21.5” x 14” x 10”). This can vary depending on the airline. 
This bag can be used as carry-on luggage as long as you don’t overload the top.

Carry-on luggage

Pack sleeping gear at the bottom and heavy items closer to the back. Slide your water bladder into the special compartment.
Store your waterproof jacket or fleece at the top for easy access. 
Put your sunscreen, map, hat, and sunglasses in the pockets. Store cereal bars or your phone in the belt pockets for quick access. 
The straps under the backpack can also be used to attach a compact tent.

How to pack your backpack

1 - Loosen all the straps: shoulder straps, belt, load-adjuster straps (these are the small straps above the shoulder straps)
2 - Put on the bag 
3 - Close the belt, positioning it at the hips then tighten it until it feels firmly in place 
4 - Tighten the bag’s shoulder straps 
5 - Tighten the chest strap (not so tight it affects your breathing)
6 - Adjust the load-adjuster straps (the bag will feel snug on your shoulders)

How to adjust the backpack

We recommend handwashing your backpack. Use soapy, lukewarm water and focus on the areas in contact with the body (shoulder straps, back, and belt), using a brush if needed. 
This is the best way to maintain the fabric’s technical properties, particularly waterproofing. 
Rinse well with lukewarm water and dry away from heating sources and sunlight. Store in a dry place.
