How will this jacket keep my child warm?
We conduct a comparative study in a thermal laboratory in walking conditions with light winds (5 km/h). The comfort temperature is the calculated air temperature where 70% of users have a "slightly warm" thermal sensation. For this jacket, it’s 0°C. However every individual feels the cold differently.
How does my jacket protect me from outdoor conditions?
Your jacket is designed with a waterproof outer component that keeps out water and wind. To stay warm in winter, you must also protect your extremities (head, hands, feet). The warm, waterproof hood, the tightening at the cuffs and the high collar prevent the cold from entering. Two pockets protect your hands from the cold.
Dressing properly for winter hiking
To dress properly in winter, whatever your activity, we recommend using the 3-layer rule: Layer 1:high-tech base layer, to transfer moisture away from the body and keep your skin dry. Layer 2: fleece/sweater, to provide warmth and transfer moisture outwards. Layer 3: jacket, to protect you from outdoor conditions like rain, snow, wind. The whole outfit must be breathable in order to eliminate moisture.
How can I be sure that my jacket is 100% waterproof?
The waterproofing of a fabric by a coating or a membrane is measured in Schmerbers or H₂O mm (pressure of a water column). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. This jacket has a waterproof component (JIS 1092 standard) resistant to 5,000 mm H₂O (Schmerbers) before washing.
What are "taped main seams"?
The seams of a jacket can be taped to prevent water from entering that area. Here, the main seams are taped, which matches the seams of the hood, collar, shoulders, armholes and chest.
Windproof:
Fabric is made watertight and windproof by applying a coating or membrane onto its inner surface. Fabric that is watertight also has the necessary technical properties to be classified as windproof. It's essential to stay protected from the wind, because both during sports and at rest, the wind can chill the body significantly.
How to preserve the technical qualities of my jacket
The water-repellent properties of a fabric are what make water run off its surface without seeping in. This helps the fabric stay light, breathable, and warm. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifespan (recommended after each wash). Products (spray or liquid) for this purpose are available in our stores.
