A thermal base layer is an insulating layer that keeps you warm. It absorbs moisture, to keep your skin dry, by wicking away perspiration. It also helps maintain your internal body temperature at 37°C during exercise, in both hot and cool weather. It dries very quickly. It can do this over a longer period by wicking perspiration away so you stay comfortable for longer.
