Design details

How warm is this padded jacket?
Worn as a third layer, this padded jacket has been certified for an active comfort temperature of -10°C during a standardized test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic, long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h (3 mph) wind. We also tested this product in static mode; the comfort temperature is 0°C in this case.
The advantages of duck down and feather filling
The fill power of down has 3 advantages for mountain hiking: - Thermal insulation, because of the air trapped in the down and feathers. Ultra-lightweight: down is lighter than synthetic fill and provides the same warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack. - Ultra-compressible.
Measuring the fill power of down and feather filling
Fill power is a measure of the down’s thermal insulation capacity and potential to trap air. It is expressed in cuin (cubic inches). Down with higher fill power will take up more space, trap more air, and provide greater thermal insulation. This jacket is filled with 90% down and 10% feathers and has a guaranteed fill power of 800 cuin (international standard) or more.

How to care for down jackets
This washable down jacket can be worn all winter. But the less you wash it, the longer its thermal insulation and water repellency will last. Care instructions: 1. Machine wash at 30°C with detergent specially formulated for down or technical garments. Gentle spin cycle. 2. Tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls; repeat 2 or 3 times until completely dry.
The material’s water repellency (not to be confused with waterproofing)
A fabric’s water repellency is its ability to make water run off its surface without being absorbed. This prevents the fabric from absorbing water and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric in this down jacket is water-repellent, although we recommend you wear a waterproof jacket over it in the rain. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface, but the treatment can deteriorate with use. We recommend restoring it after each wash.
Restoring water repellency
Once you have cleaned your padded jacket, we recommend using a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabric. This renews the fabric’s water-repellent properties and optimizes its performance throughout its life cycle.
