How to choose your rash guard (Part 1)
All our UV-resistant rash guards are UPF 50+, meaning they offer maximum sun protection. Choose your sleeve length based on your activity. Our line is primarily designed to meet surfers’ demanding needs. Choose your rash guard based on the duration of your surf session: 1 hour, 2 hours, or 3 hours.
How to choose your rash guard (Part 2)
1 hour: occasional practice. Choose between a loose cut for ease of dressing and comfort when dry, or a fitted cut for comfort when wet. Get a loop system to fasten the rash guard to your shorts. 2 hours: regular practice. A rash guard with a drawstring and seamless underarm panels improves fit and comfort in the water. 3 hours: intensive practice. A model with added warmth lets you stay out longer.
UV protection
This rash guard’s UV-resistant fabric blocks at least 98% of UVB radiation and 95% of UVA (UPF 50+), guaranteeing effective sun protection. Ideal for aquatic sports, they can be worn in or out of the water. The density of the weave filters out UV rays for long-lasting protection, even after washing. The elastane may deteriorate in chlorinated water.
What does UPF 50+ mean?
UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) is an international standard that measures the proportion of UV rays a fabric lets through to your skin. A UPF of 50+ means the fabric blocks at least 98% of UVB rays and 95% of UVA rays.
Anti-irritation
This UV-resistant rash guard minimizes irritation due to contact with your surfboard or bodyboard. Wear it under a wetsuit to limit rubbing, especially around the neck and armpits. Seamless panels under the arms reduce irritation caused by paddling movements. After a 2-hour session, our tests confirm that chafing is significantly reduced.
Drawstring
This UV-resistant rash guard has a hip drawstring to keep it firmly in place. You can also attach it to the drawstring on your boardshorts to prevent it from riding up while you surf.
Warmth and wind
This rash guard is recommended for use in water temperatures of 22°C and up. Air temperature may affect this recommendation. Our thermal models are made of fleece, neoprene, or both. We recommend choosing a model made with neoprene if you’ll be out in conditions where the wind exceeds 15 km/h.
Suitable for multiple water sports
Our UV tops meet the needs of the most demanding surfers. They’re compatible with many other water sports, including swimming, kitesurfing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, water skiing, and stand-up paddle boarding.
Sun exposure advice
This top is UV-resistant, but it doesn’t provide total sun protection. Consider other factors like reflections (off water, sand, etc.), temperature, and time of day. Wearing this top is just one part of staying safe in the sun. You should also wear sunglasses and a hat or cap, apply sunscreen regularly, and drink plenty of water.
