Design details

Resistant soles for hiking trails
The sole design is the result of extensive research conducted in our labs. It is composed of a specific rubber formula that optimizes grip and traction. We are systematically looking for the best compromise for walking on soft (e.g., forest paths) and stony (e.g., coastal paths) hiking trails. Wearing them on paved roads can lead to the premature wear of your boots and cause discomfort. They’re not suitable for mountain hiking.
Waterproof for 2 hours of hiking in rainy weather
The NH 100 Hiking Shoes have been tested for 2,000 flexes in the laboratory. They are waterproof for 2 hours of hiking. We tested 3 levels of waterproofing: - 2,000 flexes, about 2 hours of hiking - 4,000 flexes, about 4 hours of hiking - 8,000 flexes, about 8 hours of hiking Use a re-waterproofing spray several times a year to reactivate the original water repellency and limit stains.
How do you test the waterproofing of the shoes?
These shoes are laboratory- and field-tested and have a membrane to ensure that they are optimally waterproof and breathable. The shoe is first immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on its surface. Next, the shoes are placed on a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water to test that the insides remain perfectly dry.

With your feedback, we improved the design of the NH 100 Hiking Shoes. The new version features an EVA interlayer sole (ethylene vinyl acetate) that cushions against stones underfoot to improve comfort.
How to choose the right size of hiking boots
Try on both shoes, standing up, wearing your hiking socks. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: - the heel seating - the front of the foot on a downward slope Avoid any pressure points when fitting.Walk around to test the comfort and support. Break your shoes in gradually during your first few hiking trips.
What socks should you wear with the NH 100 Hiking Shoes?
These shoes are somewhat breathable, but not enough to release all of the moisture created by your sweat. We recommend wearing them with Hike 100 Mid-Height Socks, as they are made with moisture-absorbing cotton and have a reverse terry-knit structure underneath that wicks moisture away from your feet. They’re also high enough to protect your ankles. High socks reduce the chance of blisters.
