How warm is this padded jacket?
When worn as a third layer, this padded jacket has been certified for an active comfort temperature of -10°C during a standardized test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic, long-sleeved shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h wind. We also tested this product in static mode; the comfort temperature is 0°C in this case.
The advantages of down and feather filling
The fill power of down has 3 advantages for mountain hiking: - Thermal insulation, because of the air trapped in the down and feathers. - Ultra-lightweight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves more weight in your backpack. - Ultra-compressible.
Measuring the fill power of down and feather filling
Fill power is a measure of the down’s thermal insulation capacity and potential to trap air. It is expressed in cuin (cubic inches). Down with higher fill power will take up more space, trap more air, and provide greater thermal insulation. This down jacket, filled with 90% down and 10% feathers, has a guaranteed fill power of 660 CUIN (international standard) or over.
Water repellency (different from waterproofing)
A fabric’s water repellency is its ability to make water run off its surface without being absorbed. This prevents the fabric from absorbing water and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric of this down jacket is water-repellent; however, we recommend that you wear a waterproof jacket over it during prolonged exposure to the rain. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface. However, this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend restoring it after each wash.

How to care for down jackets
This washable down jacket can be worn all winter. But the less you wash it, the longer its thermal insulation and water repellency will last. Our advice: 1. Machine wash at 30°C with detergent specially formulated for down or technical garments. Use a gentle spin cycle. 2. Tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls; repeat 2 or 3 times until completely dry.

How to restore water repellency
After washing, we recommend using a water-repellent spray to prevent water absorption. This renews water-repellent properties and improves performance throughout the garment’s life cycle.
