Design details

How warm is this padded jacket?
Worn as a third layer, this padded jacket has been certified for an active comfort temperature of -5°C during a standardized test in a thermal chamber. The model is wearing a synthetic, long-sleeved shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h (3 mph) wind. We also tested this product in static conditions. The comfort temperature is 5°C in this case.

We use 100% polyester filling weighing 125 g/m² in the body and 100 g/m² in the sleeves and hood. The filling is made from silicone-coated spiral fibres that make it highly compressible and durable. Despite its thinness, the trapped air makes the filling highly insulating and lightweight. It retains its warmth even when wet.
Durable materials
This polyamide canvas uses 20 denier threads (thread unit of measurement) and resists up to 20,000 abrasion cycles. Durability is calculated using the Martindale test according to ISO standard 12947-2. This test involves rubbing the jacket’s material against another material to observe how the product resists wear. Outer: 100% polyamide fabric (39 g/m²), 20 denier Lining: 100% polyamide fabric (35 g/m²), a mix of 15 and 20 denier threads.
Water repellency (not to be confused with waterproofing)
A fabric’s water repellency is its ability to make water run off its surface without being absorbed. This keeps the fabric lightweight and warm. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface. However, this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend restoring it after each wash.
PFC-free water-repellency treatment
The MT 100 Hiking Padded Jacket’s water-repellent treatment does not use PFCs (perfluorocarbons). PFCs make fabric water-repellent but are toxic to humans and the environment.
Restoring water repellency
Once you have cleaned your padded jacket, we recommend using a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabric. This renews the fabric’s water-repellent properties and optimizes its performance throughout its life cycle. You will find it in store and on our website by entering the code 8817233.
