Measuring the fill power of down and feather filling
Fill power is a measure of the down’s thermal insulation capacity and potential to trap air. It is expressed in cuin (cubic inches). Down with higher fill power will take up more space, trap more air, and provide greater thermal insulation. With an 85% down and 15% feather filling, this jacket has a guaranteed fill power of 800 cuin or more (international standard).
The advantages of a duck down and feather filling
The durability and fill power properties of down give this jacket 3 qualities for hiking: - The air trapped in the down and feathers provides thermal insulation. - Ultra-lightweight: down wadding is lighter than synthetic and provides the same warmth. This reduces the weight of your backpack even more. - Ultra-compressible.
In case of rain
The quilted material is water-repellent. It allows water to slide off the fabric, keeping it dry while you get out of the rain. We recommend wearing a waterproof jacket over the padded jacket in the event of prolonged exposure to rain.
How to maintain your quilted down vest
This washable down jacket can be worn all winter. But the less you wash it, the longer its thermal insulation and water repellency will last. Our advice: 1. Machine wash at 30°C with detergent specially formulated for down or technical garments. Use a gentle spin cycle. 2. Tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls; repeat 2 or 3 times until completely dry.
Restoring water repellency
After washing, we recommend using a water-repellent spray to prevent water absorption. This renews water-repellent properties and improves performance throughout the garment’s life cycle.
Filling weight
XS: 53 g (1.9 oz.) S: 57 g (2 oz.) M: 63 g (2.2 oz.) L: 70 g (2.5 oz.) XL: 75 g (2.6 oz.) XXL: 81 g (2.8 oz.)
Got a snag? Here’s how to repair your down jacket.
Snags are common during hikes. The good news is that it can be repaired to prevent further tearing and to stop feathers from escaping. Need help repairing? Don’t worry! Some Decathlon workshops offer in-store repairs and can repair your jacket using an iron-on patch.
