The waterproofing of a fabric is measured in Schmerbers or mm of water (pressure of a water column). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. 
This jacket is designed with a waterproof coating: this component resists 5,000 mm of water (Schmerbers) before washing (equivalent to the pressure exerted by a 5,000 mm column of water).

Water resistance of the fabric

The jacket has 6 pockets in total! 
- 2 pockets on the side for your hands
- 2 large external gusseted pockets closed with a flap and a hook and loop fastener
- 1 external waterproof zipped chest pocket for easy phone access
- 1 inner pocket with a zipper to keep your wallet secure

A range of practical pockets

There are two types of fabric in the lining: mesh in the back for breathability, and nylon at the hip for abrasion resistance and freedom of movement. The hood is lined with ultra-soft fabric for added comfort.

Comfortable technical lining

Our fabric is extremely breathable (RET 12). 
Breathability is measured according to the product’s thermal evaporative resistance. This refers to its capacity to release perspiration during activity. The lower the thermal evaporative resistance (RET), the higher the fabric’s breathability.

RET < 9 = extremely breathable 
RET < 12 = very breathable 
RET < 20 = breathable 
RET > 20 = slightly breathable to not breathable at all

Fabric breathability

To maintain water repellency, we recommend regular reactivation.
Reactivate water repellency after three washes (remember to rinse thoroughly) or after using a dozen times in the rain.
You can reactivate the water repellency properties by warming the fabric: 
- in a dryer for 15 min. (synthetic cycle) - with a hair dryer, held 20 cm (8”) away from the fabric, moving back and forth twice over each section 
- with an iron on the delicate setting, steam function off, passing over each section twice

How to maintain the water resistance of your jacket over time

During activity, how much we perspire depends on the intensity and duration of the effort.If the fabric’s breathability is not right for your type of activity, sweat condenses inside the jacket.The jacket will feel damp inside. This moisture isn’t rain soaking through, but condensation caused by perspiration.You need to choose your jacket according to the type of physical activity. This parka is designed for regular day hiking at a maximum speed of 5 km/h (3 mph).
