Volume calculation
The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method: small balls are filled in the main compartment and in each pocket. The balls are then emptied into a graduated container which displays the equivalent volume in litres.
How to load your backpack
Place the heaviest items in the bottom of the bag, distributing the load evenly for comfortable carrying.

nice small bag but poor x-access placement

I find this bag just the right size for a day trip. The main part is large enough for a rain coat, fleece, a lunch box and water bottle. The small part can fit notebooks, a first aid kit, or other small items you need quick access to. The main down side is the x-access (molle
) placement. It's more or less pointless for pouches as they'll stick out too much. It would have been a lot better on the sides.
