Design details

Why choose the B 500?
Equipped with 2 front wheels and a unique patented steering system, this scooter was designed with the help of a physical therapist. The deck tilts at a precise angle that’s safe for children, which means they don’t lose their balance when pushing forward or turning. The curved handlebar improves the rider’s position. The B 500 is an intuitive, easy-to-ride scooter that helps children steer, supports their psychomotor development, and helps them learn.
How does the B 500 scooter affect a child’s psychomotor development?
Developing psychomotor skills involves mastering your balance, learning hand, foot, and eye coordination, and understanding how your body is oriented in space. The 3-wheeled B 500 scooter has been specially designed with the help of a psychometrician to make it easier for very young children, from 2 to 5 years old, to get to grips with these skills and learn while having fun!
How does the B 500 work?
With its unique and patented steering system, the B 500’s deck tilts precisely to provide the ideal balance for your child on each turn. It prevents the child from being thrown off balance when pushing forward or turning. The intuitive design helps children develop their basic motor skills. Its bi-material deck helps with positioning.
How much does the B 500 weigh?
2.7 kg (6 lb): it’s light enough for parents to carry. Helps develops the child’s stability.
Is the B 500 easy to ride?
The PU rubber wheels and ABEC 1 bearings offer good but limited glide. The aim is to not frighten the child by building up too much speed.
Transporting the B 500
The handlebar can be removed in one second, enabling you to transport or store your B 500 scooter in a small area at home or in your car.
Safety precautions for the B 500 scooter
Kids of all ages should wear protective equipment when riding a scooter. Remember to get your child a helmet. They may also need knee pads and elbow pads depending on their level.
What are the dimensions of the B 500?
The B 500 scooter was designed to make kids feel completely at ease. Deck length: 26 cm (10.2 in). Deck width: 10.5 cm (4.1 in). Deck height: 5 cm (2.0 in). Front wheel diameter: 125 mm (4.9 in). Rear wheel diameter: 100 mm (3.9 in). Handlebar height (lower position): 50 cm (19.7 in) for children 80 cm (2'7") tall. Handlebar height in high position: 71 cm (28.0 in) for children 120 cm (3'11") tall. Total length: 57 cm (22.4 in). Maximum width: 28 cm (11.0 in).
How should you maintain the B 500?
We recommend checking the condition of your scooter before and after each ride. Remember to check for abnormal play, cracks, and sharp edges. Wheels and bearings are subject to wear. They should be checked and replaced if necessary. To repair your scooter and extend its life, visit your local Decathlon workshop to order any spare parts you need.
How are our products tested?
All of our scooters have been lab-tested. These tests verify compliance with the European standards for scooters and check wear on the scooter. For example, one of our tests involves a machine that folds the scooter 10,000 times to check its folding system. In addition to lab tests, we do field tests—some measured and others based on testers’ opinions—to really put the product through its paces. The result is a tested, proven product.
