Adjustment dial
The adjustment dial is key to keeping your child’s helmet secure. The dial allows for easy and precise adjustments, even with gloves on. It also provides maximum comfort and safety. Turn the dial to the right to tighten and to the left to loosen.
ABS structure
The helmet has an injection-moulded, ABS outer shell to withstand powerful impacts. Durable and resistant to impact. The internal Epos skullcap absorbs impact during collisions. Change your child’s ski helmet at least every five years or after it has sustained a significant impact.
EN 1077 standard
The European standard EN 1077:2007 applies to helmets used for cranial protection during downhill skiing and snowboarding. This standard ensures that helmets absorb shocks and are resistant to penetration. There are two categories: - Class A: Protects the top and back of the head as well as the ears and the side of the head.- Class B: Protects the top and back of the head but doesn’t cover the ears.
Which size?
* Measure the circumference of your child’s head in centimetres (around the middle of the forehead and just above the ears). * Then choose the size that corresponds to this measurement. Example: if the circumference of your child’s head is 49 cm (19”), they should try a helmet in size 48 cm–52 cm (18.9”–20.5”).
Fit
Take plenty of time to try it on properly. Your child shouldn’t feel any discomfort. If they do, try another model. Always get kids to try the helmet on with their mask, because not all helmets go with all masks. A helmet is compatible with a ski mask when there are no gaps between the top of the goggles and the helmet.
Helmet adjustment
When skiing, your helmet should be properly fitted and adjusted: * It is essential to choose the right size. * The head circumference should be adjusted using the adjustment dial. * The chinstrap must be properly adjusted. It’s a bit like a car seat belt: If it is too loose, it will not work as designed and your child will not be properly protected.
Safety
Your child shouldn’t wear a thick hat under the helmet, as this reduces protection. Wear a very thin beanie or balaclava. Helmets have good insulating properties. Often, nothing else is needed. Do not attach a camera to the helmet, as the extra weight can affect safety. The standard does not take into account any elements added to the helmet.
