Design details

How is the waterproofness measured?
We measure the resistance of a fabric to water pressure expressed in mm of water column (test based on JIS 1092B standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. These pants have a waterproof rating of 25,000 mm and effectively protect the user from 4 h of rain.
How is the breathability of the component measured?
To determine a fabric’s breathability, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). A lower evaporative resistance means more perspiration can escape, increasing the fabric’s breathability. Rule of thumb: RET < 9 = very breathable fabric 9 < RET < 12 = breathable fabric RET > 12 = little breathability The fabric of these pants has a RET of 15.
Features of the bib pants
- A large side zipper offers a wide opening at the back to make it easier to use the toilet without having to take them off completely. - Ultra-durable reinforcements reduce edge cuts. - Adjustable straps provide very good support. - A stretch component around the stomach to reduce the need for overlapping belts
Pockets
Two secure pockets on the thighs with waterproof zippers, including one with a mesh pocket for a mobile phone. A large front pocket that can hold an ARB (avalanche rescue beacon).
Good freedom of movement
These pants are designed using 2 components, which guarantee resistance to wear without sacrificing freedom of movement. The stretch component on the stomach provides excellent fluidity while reducing wear on the waist (under-garment, elastic, snow skirt, etc.) The preformed knees help you move freely.
What is the Recco® system?
All our cross-country ski jackets and pants are equipped with the Recco® system. With Recco® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche. Thanks to Recco® reflectors, a person buried in the snow can be located quickly and accurately using the Recco® detector. Recco® reflectors are not a substitute for an avalanche rescue beacon. Recco® technology works as an additional safeguard, increasing the chances of being found in time.
What is fabric water repellency?
Water repellency is the ability to let water slide off the surface of the fabric without being absorbed. This means that the fabric does not soak up water, and therefore remains lightweight, breathable and warm. Water repellency is achieved by applying a treatment to the outer surface of the fabric, which must be renewed from time to time (every three washes) to ensure it remains effective. All our freeride ski jackets have a fluorine-free water-repellent treatment.
What is a membrane or coating?
The coating is like a paint applied to the inside of the fabric, making it waterproof yet breathable. Less costly than a membrane, it requires a lining to protect it. A membrane, which is a very thin plastic film (polyurethane), makes the material waterproof yet breathable. It is more flexible, lighter, more durable and often more breathable than a coating.
What should you wear under your ski pants?
To keep warm and dry in the event of intense cold, wear a ski base layer that is comfortable and breathable. Our FR 900 base layer pants are perfect for keeping in warmth.
Care
Machine-wash the pants at 30°C after having closed the zippers. Use a liquid detergent and no fabric softener.
How to reactivate the water repellency
With each wash, renew the fabric’s water-repellent properties using a suitable treatment. This will maximize your garment’s performance over its lifetime.
