Design details

Which fabrics are used to make my pants warm?
For warmth, we used insulating fill (60 g/m²). This synthetic, polyester-based insulation traps air according to the size of the fibres to keep you warm.
How is comfort temperature measured?
We lab-test our products to provide you with a comfort indicator. The comfort indicator is measured without tights for pants, and with a thermal T-shirt and a fleece for jackets. The temperature indicated is the external temperature at which the testers were neither warm nor cold. Of course, the perceived temperature varies depending on the intensity of the activity and each individual’s metabolism.
What is a membrane and what does it do?
The membrane is a very thin component applied to the inner surface of the outer fabric. This component prevents water from seeping in while wicking away perspiration. The membrane is unbeatable when it comes to keeping you warm and dry.
How is your pants’ water resistance measured?
A fabric’s water resistance is measured by the height of a water column in mm it can support (test based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A water-resistance rating of 10,000 mm means the fabric can resist 10,000 mm of water pressure. For skiing, we advise components rated between 3,000 and 20,000 mm. At Decathlon, we lab test all of our waterproof products. This product scored 3/5.
How can I be sure my pants will protect me in bad weather?
These pants have been developed using a robust component and superior construction that limit wind chill and prevent water from entering to help you brave all weather (rain, snow, wind, etc.). To check their water-resistance, the pants were placed under a special shower reproducing the conditions faced by a skier. We checked the waterproofing of this product in use in various weather conditions over several days.
Why are my pants water-repellent?
Water repellency is a material’s ability to let water bead off the surface without being absorbed. The water-repellent features of these pants improve their resistance to bad weather. The exterior surface of the fabric is treated to make it water-repellent. However, this property may deteriorate with use.
Can I restore the water repellency of my pants?
Bear in mind that the water-repellent feature can be reactivated. Simply tumble dry on a synthetics cycle for 10 to 15 minutes. You can also use a waterproofing spray sold in our stores: spray the product evenly over the entire item, then allow to dry for 10 to 12 hours.
What are “breathable” pants?
This jacket wicks moisture away. To determine a fabric’s breathability, we measure its resistance to evaporative heat (RET) based on a standardized ISO 11092 test. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. The 500 Downhill Ski Pants have a RET of 11. However, it is Wedze’s technical solutions (zippers, vents, mesh) that reduce condensation and maximize breathability.
How should I dress to keep my legs warm on the slopes?
To keep your legs warm and dry, two layers of clothing are enough: - a ski base layer to wick away perspiration. - ski pants to protect against bad weather and provide warmth.
How can I prevent snow from getting in my pants?
These pants have elastic gaiters at the ankles to cover your boots. The seal created by the gaiters keeps the snow out.
What is the cut of the 500 Downhill Ski Pants?
The regular fit allows the pants to be combined with a technical base layer.
How should I wash my pants?
To optimize your product’s performance and durability: *Machine wash at 30°C on a synthetics cycle. *Turn the product inside out. *Use a small amount of detergent. Do not use fabric softener. *Wring by hand. *Dry on a hanger in a warm, well-ventilated place. Do not dry clean. Do not place on a radiator.
