Cellulosic fibers are artificial fibre, 100% cellulosic and biodegradable, produced from wood pulp (mainly eucalyptus but also oak or birch) dissolved in a non-toxic and recyclable solvent. It is manufactured in an almost closed circuit, which is environmentally friendly.
Conventional cotton farming uses a lot of water, fertilizers and pesticides. This leads to degradation of biodiversity and pollution of soil and groundwater. Organic cultivation is produced without using chemical fertilizer, pesticides and GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms), which reduces soil and ground water pollution.
Linen is a natural fibre grown mainly in Europe, particularly in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. After harvesting, the stems are left on the ground to naturally release the fibre, then crushed and processed into yarn, ready to be woven or knitted. Valued for its authentic feel, linen is a strong and breathable material that can also be blended with other fibres for added comfort. Its cultivation requires very little water and no irrigation, making it a naturally resource-efficient plant. The result: at least 54% less CO2 emissions compared to conventional cotton.
Using recycled polyester rather than conventional polyester reduces the CO₂ emissions linked to the material by at least 17%.
The greige means that the fabric is not dyed. The colour is in its natural state. Dyeing being one of the steps that has the biggest environmental impact.
