Is my parka warm enough for winter hikes?
This parka was developed for winter conditions: cold, snow, and wind. Thick synthetic padding traps air and provides insulation. A long inner flap beneath the zipper keeps cold air out. The toggle at the hem ensures your parka is comfortable.
How does this jacket protect you from outdoor conditions?
The parka has a waterproof material that keeps out water and wind. To stay warm in winter, you must also protect your extremities (head, hands, and feet). The covering hood, cuffs, and stand-up collar all help to keep out the cold. The comfortable, fleece-lined handwarmer pockets protect your hands.
Waterproofness
The waterproofness of a fabric, provided by a coating or membrane, is measured in Schmerber or mm water (pressure exerted by a column of water). The higher this number, the more watertight the fabric. This jacket is made from waterproof material resistant to 15,000 mm water (Schmerbers) before washing.

Fully taped seams ensure that your jacket is waterproof. The inside seams are also sealed with waterproof tape to prevent water seeping into more vulnerable areas.

How to preserve the technical qualities of your jacket
Water repellency is a fabric’s capacity to make water run off its surface without being absorbed. It prevents the fabric from soaking up water, keeping it lightweight, warm, and breathable. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. The garment should be retreated over its lifespan (recommended after each wash). Products for this purpose (spray or liquid) are available in our stores.
