What’s the right size for me?
Freestyle use, opt for a relatively short board:choose a 20 or 25 cm drop (ex, if you are 1.74 m, choose a 149–154 cm board). Smaller board make rotations and tricks easier. Bigger board is more stable at high speed and on landing jumps. The Park and Ride Snowboard should be quite short. The 158 Wide size is ideal for well-built users. 152cm=>1.67–1.77m 153cm Mid wide=>1.68m–1.78m 156cm:1.71–1.81 m 158 cm Wide => from 1.78 m to 1.90 m
Program/terrain
The Park and Ride Snowboard is true to its name: it’s as good in snow parks as on- and off-piste. In snow parks, it is perfect for jumps (tables) and inspires confidence on landing. Its standard camber gives it pop for jumps and stability at full speed. The rocker makes for good handling, as well as buoyancy in powdery snow. Its Powder Stance makes it enjoyable in the powder snow, like a freeride board.
Twin tip directional snowboard
The shape of the snowboard is twin tip: The board’s sidecuts are balanced from front to rear for perfect symmetry and centring when riding in both directions. For even greater versatility, we have shifted the inserts by 20 mm, making the Park and Ride Snowboard a “false” twin tip, just directional enough to ride in the park without issues.
Standard camber and rocker
All the advantages of both the standard camber (thanks to the board’s elasticity, a standard camber serves as a spring to provide grip on all types of snow, edge-to-edge dynamism, and recoil when coming out of turns) and the rocker (under constraint, the board’s points of contact with the snow come closer together, making the board more manageable). The rocker elongates and raises the nose so that it glides better in powder.
Medium and versatile flex (6/10)
Flex is the stiffness of the board between the front and rear. The flex of the Park and Ride Snowboard is about 6/10, which is medium and versatile. It is reliable in carved turns and forgiving of edge mistakes.
Medium and versatile torsion (6/10)
The torsion is about 6/10 on the Park and Ride Snowboard, which is fairly stiff for good hold in the curves, recovery coming out of a turn, and responsive edge transition. It is also flexible enough for some freestyle riding. It’s the medium torsional stiffness that gives the Park and Ride Snowboard good all-round handling without making it a jib board.
20 mm setback
The setback is when the board’s compression points on the snow are not symmetrical in relation to the centre of the board but set back toward the rear. The bindings are also set back toward the rear by the same distance. 20 mm setback = slight setback, a versatile, near-centred board, not only for riding in both directions, but also for better balance during rotations in the air and on slopes.
Recommended bindings
With the SNB 500 Snowboard bindings, the board and binding combination will be homogeneous in terms of level with coherent design.
When should you wax your snowboard?
Wedze boards come pre-waxed. Like all snowboards, they require regular maintenance: ideally, wax them every 5 outings and at least once a year: - at the beginning of the season to start with an optimal glide - at the end of the season so that the wax protects the base all summer long
Glide quality: sintered base.
The bases are made from polyethylene using two different technical processes: - extruded base, with a certain density of polyethylene - a sintered base, with a higher density of polyethylene (fewer holes, more PE) A sintered base is the gold standard for bases. It offers fantastic glide.
What is the Wide version snowboard?
A wide board is wider than normal to prevent larger feet from touching the snow when turning or to increase buoyancy on powder. The width of the board is measured at its centre. At Decathlon, we have defined them as follows: - up to 245 mm: narrow board/shoe size 4–7 - from 246–255 mm: normal board/shoe size 6–9 - from 256–265 mm: Mid Wide/shoe size 8–10 - from 266 mm: wide/shoe size 9.5–14.5
Can the store mount the bindings on my board for me?
Yes. You can ask your store to fit your bindings to suit your own preferences. Remember to take your snowboard boots with you for 2 adjustments: 1. The front/back of the binding, so that the toes or heels of the boots don’t stick out on one side more than the other 2. The straps on your bindings, which should be properly adjusted for your boots.
