How can you preserve the technical qualities of these boots?
Water repellency is the ability of a fabric to let water run off its surface without absorbing it. Water repellency is achieved by treating the outer surface. This treatment must be renewed throughout the lifetime of the boots, using specialized sprays or liquids.
Are these boots warm enough for my children’s hikes?
We perform comparative studies carried out in a thermal laboratory, in walking conditions with light winds (5 km/h). This is how we measure the thermal resistance of our boots. Everyone feels the cold differently. Comfort temperature: felt slightly cold and 70% of users find the thermal sensation acceptable on their feet. Limit temperature: felt very cold and 10% of users consider the thermal sensation acceptable on their feet.
What is the difference between traction and grip?
The boot’s traction depends on the number and shape of the treads. The grip depends on the materials of the sole and the tread pattern, like car tires. Traction optimizes propulsion, prevents slipping when going uphill, and stabilizes the boot. Grip prevents the boot from slipping and skidding on smooth ground or in demanding conditions (rain, snow, and ice).
How do I choose the right footwear for hiking in the snow?
To be well equipped in winter, we recommend that you follow these guidelines: Warmth: wear warm socks (ideally with a suitable percentage of wool). Breathability: choose socks based on the intensity of the hike and make sure they’re breathable to limit moisture. Boot height: the height of the sock should correspond to the height of the boot—for more protection, choose higher socks.
Our tips on use and care
The boot can accumulate moisture (sweat, condensation). If there is a lot of moisture, remove the insole, stuff it with newspaper and change the paper regularly to speed up the drying process. Do not dry using any direct sources of heat. Leave to dry in a warm, dry and well-ventilated place.
