Does this ski jacket feature the RECCO® system?
Yes, the jacket has built-in RECCO® technology! Used in most ski resorts, it increases the chances of being located in the event of an avalanche. The reflector, which is built into the jacket, can be located by rescue services via a detector. This shouldn't replace responsible behaviour or the use of an avalanche transceiver.

How waterproof is this ski and snowboard jacket?
This jacket is highly waterproof (15,000 mm Schmerbers) and has been tested in real-world conditions. The waterproof fabric and design prevent water from entering, seams are watertight, while the zippers are either waterproof or covered by a protective flap. This jacket has been tested both in a special shower simulating ski-resort conditions and outdoors over several days in different weather conditions.
Is this jacket water-repellent?
The JKT 500 jacket is water-repellent, like all Quechua jackets. A fabric’s water-repellent property is its ability to let water bead off its surface without soaking in. By not soaking up water, the fabric remains lightweight, breathable, and warm. The water-repellent finish on the fabric exterior must be reapplied regularly (every 3 washes).
Is this jacket warm?
With 200 g/m² fill on the body and 60 g/m² on the arms, this jacket is warm and will protect you from the cold down to -8°C during moderate exercise.
Is this ski and snowboard jacket breathable?
RET (evaporative resistance) score of 12 measured according to ISO 11092 standard. The lower the RET number, the more easily water vapour escapes. RET < 9: extremely breathable. 9 < RET < 12: very breathable. 12 < RET < 20: breathable. RET > 20: little or no breathability.
What are the benefits of the lined material used?
This jacket uses a very thin polyurethane film to make the fabric waterproof but still breathable. More flexible, lightweight, durable, and often more breathable than coating, which is less expensive but requires a protective lining, similar to paint applied to the inside of the fabric.
Repairable
Beyond the 2-year warranty period, your product will still be repairable (seams, zippers, etc.). During the warranty period, we will carry out repairs free of charge. Solutions can be offered at your nearest store.
What to wear under your ski jacket
For skiing, follow the three-layer rule: wear a thermal base layer, a mid layer (fleece or down jacket), and your ski jacket as the outer layer. Choose your mid layer based on conditions and bring a bag so you can store it during the day if needed.
How to restore the jacket's water-repellent properties?
Your jacket’s water-repellent treatment must be reactivated regularly (every 3 washes). Over time, the outer layer may seem to start absorbing water, even if the jacket itself remains waterproof. To restore repellency, use a reactivating spray or treatment reapplication product.
How should I wash and dry the JKT 500 jacket?
Close all zippers, loosen any ties, and read label instructions. You can use a tumble dryer or let jacket air-dry. To finish, use a hair dryer for five minutes to reactivate the waterproofing treatment.
