The FR500 jacket features RECCO® technology, making it easier to locate you in the event of an avalanche
RECCO® technology is used in most ski resorts and increases the chances of being located in the event of an avalanche. The reflector, which is built into the jacket, can be located by rescue services via a detector. This should not replace responsible behaviour or the use of an avalanche transceiver.

Highly waterproof (15,000 mm Schmerber) and tested in real-life conditions
The waterproof fabric and construction prevent water from getting in. All seams are fully sealed, and the zippers are waterproof and protected by a flap. This jacket has been tested both in a special shower simulating ski-resort conditions and outdoors over several days in different weather conditions.
Water-repellent, like all Quechua jackets
A fabric’s water-repellent property is its ability to let water bead off its surface without soaking in. If the fabric doesn’t soak up water, it remains lightweight, breathable, and warm. The water-repellent finish applied to the outside of the fabric must be renewed regularly (every three washes).
This jacket provides warmth where you need it and when you need it
Its three-layer construction features lightweight padding that provides warmth only where it’s needed. This jacket is still lightweight: in very cold weather, wear a padded jacket or fleece underneath.
A breathable jacket that lets excess heat escape during intense activity
This jacket has an RET (evaporative resistance) score of 12 measured according to the ISO 11092 standard. The lower the RET number, the more easily water vapour escapes. RET < 9: extremely breathable 9 < RET < 12: very breathable 12 < RET < 20: breathable RET > 20: little or no breathability
The FR500 jacket is designed with a three-layer membrane
This jacket uses a very thin polyurethane film to make the fabric waterproof while maintaining breathability. This film is more flexible, lighter, more durable, and often more breathable than a traditional coating. By contrast, a traditional coating is less expensive but requires a protective lining similar to a paint layer applied to the inside of the fabric.
Repairable
During the two-year warranty period, repairable issues with the hooks, seams or zippers are fixed free of charge. After that, repairs can still be done for a fee, at your local shop.
Weight
Between 0.56 kg (1.2 lb) in size 2XS and 0.91 kg (2 lb) in size 2XL. 0.71 kg (1.6 lb) in size M.
How should you dress under your ski jacket?
For skiing, follow the three-layer rule: wear a thermal base layer, a mid layer (fleece or down jacket), and your ski jacket as the outer layer. Choose your mid layer based on the conditions and bring a bag so you can remove it during the day if needed.
Restoring water repellency
Your jacket’s water-repellent treatment must be reactivated regularly (every three washes). Over time, the outer layer may seem to start absorbing water, even though the jacket itself remains waterproof. To restore water repellency, use a reactivating spray or a treatment reapplication product.
Care: Follow these steps to extend the jacket’s lifespan
Close all zippers, loosen any ties, and read the instructions on the label. You can use a tumble dryer or let the jacket air-dry. To finish, use a hair dryer for five minutes to reactivate the waterproofing treatment.
