Design details

Does this ski jacket feature the RECCO® system, a technology that improves search and rescue efforts in the event of an avalanche?
The jacket does have built-in RECCO® technology! Used in most ski resorts, it increases the chances of being located in the event of an avalanche. The reflector, which is built into the jacket, can be located by rescue services via a detector. This should not replace responsible behaviour or the use of an avalanche transceiver.
What accessories does the SKP 900 JKT jacket come with?
- 2 hand pockets - 2 chest pockets (1 inside and 1 outside) - 1 inner mesh pocket - 1 ski pass pocket - 1 mask wipe - Snow skirt - Ventilation zips - Sleeve cuffs - Adjustable sleeve and jacket hems - 3D-adjustable, removable hood that is helmet-compatible
How waterproof is this ski jacket?
The SKP 900 JKT jacket has a high waterproofing rating (20,000 mm Schmerbers) and has been tested in real-world conditions. The waterproof fabric and its design prevent water from entering, the seams are sealed, whilst the waterproof zips are covered by protective flaps. This jacket has been tested both in a special shower simulating ski-resort conditions and outdoors over several days in different weather conditions.
Is this jacket water-repellent?
The SKP 900 JKT jacket is water-repellent, like all Quechua jackets. A fabric’s water-repellent property is its ability to let water bead off its surface without soaking in. If the fabric doesn’t soak up water, it remains lightweight, breathable, and warm. The water-repellent finish applied to the outside of the fabric must be renewed regularly (every three washes).
Is this jacket warm?
With its 120 g/m² fill, this jacket will keep you warm in temperatures as low as -2 °C during moderate exercise. There are tightenings at the hem of the jacket, around the cuffs, and by the hood, which prevent air, and therefore the cold, from getting in.
Is this ski jacket breathable?
The breathability of the jacket is measured using the RET, or the evaporative resistance of the fabric (ISO 11092 Standard): The lower the RET number, the more easily water vapour escapes. The RET for this jacket is 12*. It also features ventilation zips that allow you to adjust the airflow to suit your activity level. * RET < 9 = extremely breathable 9 < RET < 12 = highly breathable 12 < RET < 20 = breathable RET > 20 = little or no breathability.
What are the benefits of the lined material used?
This jacket uses a very thin polyurethane film to make the fabric waterproof while maintaining breathability. This film is more flexible, lighter, more durable, and often more breathable than a traditional coating. By contrast, a traditional coating is less expensive but requires a protective lining similar to a paint layer applied to the inside of the fabric.
Repairable
Beyond the warranty period (2 years), your product will still be reparable (seams, zips, etc.). During the warranty period, we will carry out repairs free of charge. Solutions can be offered at your nearest store.
How much does the SKP 900 JKT jacket weigh?
1.05 kg (2.3 lb) in size M.
What to wear under your ski jacket
For skiing, follow the three-layer rule: wear a thermal base layer, a mid layer (fleece or down jacket), and your ski jacket as the outer layer. Choose your mid layer based on the conditions and bring a bag so you can store it during the day if needed.
How to restore the jacket’s water-repellent properties?
Your jacket’s water-repellent treatment must be reactivated regularly (every three washes). Over time, the outer layer may seem to start absorbing water, even though the jacket itself remains waterproof. To restore water repellency, use a reactivating spray or a treatment reapplication product.
How should I wash and dry the SKP 900 JKT jacket?
Close all zips, loosen any ties, and read the instructions on the label. You can use a tumble dryer or let the jacket air-dry. To finish, use a hair dryer for five minutes to reactivate the waterproofing treatment.
