Waterproof (15,000 mm Schmerber) and tested in real-life conditions.
Because of the way a down jacket is assembled, it cannot provide perfect waterproofing, even if the fabric it’s made of is highly waterproof. That’s why a down jacket is ideal for cold or very cold weather but is not suitable for heavy rain.

A fabric’s water-repellent property is its ability to let water bead off its surface without soaking in. If the fabric doesn’t soak up water, it remains lightweight, breathable, and warm. The water-repellent finish applied to the outside of the fabric must be renewed regularly (every three washes).

This jacket is very warm, but it comes with ventilation zippers under the arms and a front zipper so you can let some fresh air in as needed.
The 500 Warm padded jacket is designed with a membrane component.
This jacket uses a very thin polyurethane film to make the fabric waterproof while maintaining breathability. This film is more flexible, lighter, more durable, and often more breathable than a traditional coating. By contrast, a traditional coating is less expensive but requires a protective lining similar to a paint layer applied to the inside of the fabric.
This product is repairable.
During the two-year guarantee period, if your product can be repaired (hooks, seams, zips, etc.), the repairs are done free of charge. Beyond this time period, they can still be done for a fee, locally in your usual shop.

What to wear under your ski jacket
For skiing, follow the three-layer rule: wear a thermal base layer, a mid layer (fleece or down jacket), and your ski jacket as the outer layer. Choose your mid layer based on the conditions and bring a bag so you can store it during the day if needed.
How to restore the jacket’s water-repellent properties?
Your jacket’s water-repellent treatment must be reactivated regularly (every three washes). Over time, the outer layer may seem to start absorbing water, even though the jacket itself remains waterproof. To restore water repellency, use a reactivating spray or a treatment reapplication product.
