We have improved this product with an eco-design approach to its materials:

- Upper (front of the shoe, tongue, and top of the shoe): 100% recycled polyester
- Tongue lining and collar: 100% recycled polyester

- Inner sole: 85% recycled polyurethane foam and 100% recycled polyester lining

The sole’s design is the result of extensive research conducted in our labs. It is composed of a specific rubber formula that optimizes grip and traction. We’re always looking for the best solution for walking on unpaved nature trails.
Designed for use on nature trails.
Our walking shoes are designed for use on nature trails. We choose the sole and upper components for our footwear and test them to ensure they’re perfectly suited for walking on unpaved trails, such as forest paths, as well as on rocky coastal trails. Wearing them on paved roads could cause premature wear and discomfort. They’re not suitable for mountain hiking.
Tested for resistance and optimal durability
Lab-tested for the following elements: tear resistance of eyelets and straps, bonding, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of outsole and upper components, and accelerated aging. We use these tests to improve the quality of our products and prevent the premature wear of our hiking shoes.
Where do we get our leather?
We use nubuck leather. It has a soft, silky feel. The leather used on these shoes comes from cows. We do not kill any animals to obtain this leather: we only use leather waste from the food industry. Leather for these shoes comes from French hide which is then tanned in Spain.
How to maintain your leather shoes
After your hike, we recommend that you
- Let your boots dry near a heat source.
- Use a hard-bristled brush on the dry leather to remove any mud or dirt.
- Use a soft-bristled brush or nubuck eraser to remove any stains.
- Clean stubborn stains using a brush and a little bit of warm water.
- Let the boots dry.
- Brush them again with a hard-bristled brush.
- Spray with a waterproofing product: this will make the leather shine and brighten up the colour.
How to choose the right size walking shoes
Try on both shoes, standing up, wearing your hiking socks. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points:
- the heel seating
- the front of the foot on a downward slope
Avoid any pressure points when fitting. Feel free to walk around the store to test the comfort. Break your shoes in gradually during your first few hiking trips.
How to choose the right hiking sock type and size
Many things cause blisters when hiking: rubbing, a crease in the sock, moisture, a wrong shoe size. Therefore, it’s important to choose the right shoe size and sock material for your shoes.
Choose a sock size adapted to your foot to avoid any additional creasing of the material: Bunching may occur because the sock is too big with too much material around your foot, or because the sock is too small and is being pulled toward the inside of the foot.
What socks go well with the NH 500 shoe?
You need to manage moisture as best you can when walking: you will sweat—it’s inevitable.
The NH 500 shoe is breathable, so it will wick away moisture. This means you need to choose socks that are also light and breathable. We recommend the Hike 100 low or mid socks. they contain moisture-absorbing cotton and have a reverse terry-knit structure that wicks moisture away from your foot. They are high enough to protect your ankle from the shoe
