We perform comparative studies in a thermal laboratory replicating walking conditions in light winds (5 km/h) to measure the thermal resistance of our boots. However, cold tolerance is different for everyone.Comfort temperature: users experienced slight cold. 70% felt adequately protected from cold.
Limit temperature: users experienced noticeable cold. 10% felt adequately protected from cold.

Are these boots warm enough for winter hikes?

The membrane on these boots is waterproof and breathable, guaranteed. A membrane is an ultrathin component (5 to 25 micrometres), bonded to the inside of a fabric to prevent water from entering while allowing moisture to escape.

How do these boots protect me from inclement weather?

Thermal comfort requires warmth and breathability. Too much heat or not enough breathability can let moisture accumulate and cold set in. This membrane is designed to prevent water from entering the boot while letting moisture escape.

Breathable boots for optimal thermal comfort.

We conduct laboratory waterproofing tests that simulate walking with the boots half-submerged in water. We also conduct field tests to measure wear and tear. We test our boots for 3 levels of waterproofing: 2,000 flexes (approx. 4-km hike), 4,000 flexes (approx. 8-km hike), and 8,000 flexes (approx. 16-km hike). This boot has been tested for up to 2,000 flexes, which is equivalent to a 4-km hike.

Are these boots 100% waterproof?

Boot traction depends on the number of treads and the shape of the sole. Boot grip, as with car tires, depends on materials used and tread pattern. Traction prevents slipping on upward slopes, and stabilizes the boot. 
Grip prevents the boot from slipping and skidding on surfaces made slippery by rain, snow, or ice.

What is the difference between traction and grip?

The material and tread of Snow Contact soles are specifically designed for optimal grip and traction. Snow Contact soles are more effective on snow than traditional soles. When walking on ice, adding anti-slip grips to your boots is the only way to ensure optimum safety.

What are the advantages of Snow Contact technology?

This product was lab-tested by our engineers to ensure your total satisfaction. We tested the following elements: tear resistance of eyelets and straps, bonding, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of outsole and upper components, and accelerated aging.

How will my boots hold up over time?

Follow these guidelines for winter activities: Warmth: wear warm socks (a high percentage of wool is ideal).
 Breathability: Breathable socks help minimize moisture accumulation. Select socks according to the length and difficulty of the hike.
Boot height: Socks should be at least as high as the boot. Higher socks offer greater protection.

Choosing the best footwear for hikes in the snow

Water repellency is a fabric’s capacity to let water roll off its surface without being absorbed. It prevents the fabric from absorbing the water, keeping it light, warm, and breathable. Water repellency is achieved by treating the fabric’s exterior. This treatment needs to be reapplied throughout the product’s lifetime. Products intended for this purpose (spray or liquid) are available in our stores.

This product is guaranteed for two years from the date shown on the sales receipt. A product covered by the warranty will be exchanged free of charge. The warranty covers product defects, excluding those resulting from normal wear and tear or improper use.
