Certified sole grip. 
To earn certification, the boots must pass lab tests to assess their grip on different surfaces (smooth, rough, dry, wet). 
These tests are validated by a panel of testers who evaluate the quality of our soles out in the mountains across 500 km (311 miles).

Sole grip

Lab- and field-tested, the waterproofing and breathability of this footwear are guaranteed. The boots are first immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on its surface. Next, the boots are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking, half immersed in water to ensure that the inside remains perfectly dry. The boots lasted the equivalent of 8 km (5 miles).

Waterproofing test

Boots’ waterproofing is often undermined by water getting in from the top. To keep your feet dry for as long as possible, we recommend using a gaiter or mini gaiter to keep water, stones, and sand out. We recommend using a waterproof spray several times a year to restore the original water-repellent properties and to prevent stains.

Making waterproofing last longer

For hiking, it’s best to go one size up from your child’s usual shoe size. This will ensure optimal comfort on the way down and prevent the toes from hitting the end the shoe. Tip: keep toenails short and, before any descent, check that the straps and/or laces are properly fastened to prevent the foot from slipping forward in the shoe.

What size should I choose?

Allow children to try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks they will be wearing while hiking. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot while going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying shoes on. Gradually break in your shoes during your first few trips.
