The comfort temperature is the lower limit at which the user is in general thermal equilibrium, feeling neither too cold nor too hot (for an average person in normal conditions of use).

What is the comfort limit temperature?

A sleeping bag does not produce heat but retains the heat produced by the body. If you’re cold when you slip into a cold, damp sleeping bag, it’s very likely that you’ll feel cold no matter how good your sleeping bag is! These temperature ratings therefore depend on the user’s resistance to cold, equipment, clothing, and weather conditions.

What you need to know about temperature

Dress lightly (just one layer of clothing is enough). Warm up your extremities: hats, gloves, socks, hand warmers, etc. A hot water bottle can be used as a heater (as long as there’s no risk of it opening by accident!). Contract your muscles (70% of the energy consumed is converted into heat), but without making any movements that would create a draft.
You can use a sleeping bag liner so you won’t have to wash your sleeping bag as often.
